Letter to the editor
Today's Courant says that there could be as many as 330,000 people with assault weapons who refused to register them according to the law [Feb. 11, Page 1, "Thousands Ignore Law On Gun Registration"]. Then now is the time to increase the penalty and start rounding them up.
At the first sign that someone has an illegal weapon , they should be immediately tried and imprisoned. These are the people we must be worried and concerned about -- the ones who need to keep their ownership secret.
Something wrong when they refuse to obey the law -- a law necessary for the safety of the rest of us and our children. Lots of laws are not pleasant, but we do not deliberately break them.
Pam Bergren, East Hartford
I found myself going in a completely different direction on her comment.
I wonder, what does she have to say about her hero potus continuing to ignore laws? Far too many to list here, we all know what they are.
The other thing that struck me is how a loon on the left can write this tripe and put their name to it, with no fear!
As well she should have the ability to do. However..
If a conservative took such a stance on something the left is rapid over, and put their name, they would be faced with death threats and mobs at their home...of this I have NO doubt.
She is advertising herself and her family as a gun free zone. That is extremely dangerous with the criminal element watching ... and one has to know the criminal element is always watching.
Strap on a gun instead of a strapon, Pam, and go make some arrests.

Better start building prisons Connecticut...the current prison population is 16,839.
I know for editorials (newspapers) demand the right to print the name and location (normally) of those writing said editorial. Newspapers love blood. If it bleeds, it leads. This woman has made a mistake, a terrible mistake. She has placed her life in danger with the criminal element. If she does not have a weapon ... she should go purchase one. She does have the right to protect herself and her family. She should be advised to think. When writing this article she did not think. A newspaper is good at printing anything that is stupid and she made a grave error. Why would a sane person advertise like this? Answer ... She is not sane, and although that alone should disqualify her from owning a firearm ... She now needs one for protection from the criminal element in East Hartford. To own a firearm or not to own a firearm is personal choice. Her written words now force her to rethink, if she can think.
That’s almost 1 in every 100 people in the state!
Wow!
Pam, so you’re advocating that 330,000 people be tracked down, arrested, charged with a felony, and then imprisoned? Tracked down how? House-to-house search of every house in Connecticut? Do you have ANY idea how many resources would be required to do these searches, arrest this many people, run this many people through the courts and imprison this many people? Why you’d have to build at least a 100 new prisons alone.
How much taxes would need to be raised to accomplish this? And then the taxpayers would have to support the wives and children of the 330,000 felons, which would be about another million people made destitute. And then what about the 330,000 or so mortgages that would go unpaid and the 330,000 foreclosures performed on the 330,000 empty houses then dumped on the market? Wonder what all of this would do to the economy of Connecticut?
You know what, Pam? You’re nuttier than a fruitcake and have less intelligence than a box of hammers.
A hammer is a useful tool. So is Pam though the first one is actually productive.
FWIW, the past few days, the HC has been full of anti letters to the editor including their own spew.
Admittedly, neither the cops our politicos have any idea how many weapons are out there....if they knock on the right door....they’ll find out how far they can push their unconstitutional laws.
At dinner last night, with a table of pro-gun friends, we talked about how historically our general inclination would be to help those like Ms. Bergren, if she was my neighbor, if say...something and was happening at her house. Now, the inclination, will be to pull the shades....and *I didn’t see or hear anything*. F ‘em.Strange that. Let them reap what they have sown.
That certainly is a good possibility sir. I guess 1/3 of a million people think so anyway.
This woman is a frequent contributor to the HC.....she may be on the payroll.
Her screeds are over-the-top and she is a useful idiot for the HC anti-agenda. She deserves the mockery and derision that she has been getting on gun forums. To laugh.
REALLY???? And just where did YOU get your birth certificate errr lab report???? Oh!!!! I know, the same lab Barack got his. Well now, that explains THAT statement of lunacy. Stand firm "Nutmeggers",,,, and be assured that us down here in the Carolinas are behind you. My god,,,, you folks have a complete retard up there that truly belongs in a padded cell.
Chilling..good point, I hadn’t even thought of that!
Frankly, I’m more pissed about Ms. Pam Bergren’s neighbors. Why have they allowed this idiot to exist in her current state?
And don’t forget, when you’re on the Jury for the guy who survives the stack rush and bags a few of them... NOT GUILTY!
All you need to see in the article.
Uh, Pam, I won't be "rounded up". Not now, not ever.
Bring it on, you communist piece of filth.
Could we at least wait for the verdict before imprisoning them?
