What is an 86-year-old, former four-term governor who served eight years in federal prison on corruption charges and then had his own reality show to do with his spare time? Louisianas Edwin Edwards may be running for Congress.
The Democrat reportedly told Bloombergs Al Hunt that he is in the process of putting together a run for the Baton Rouge-area seat being vacated by Republican Rep. Bill Cassidy, who is challenging Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu this year. So far, no serious Democrats have announced plans for the seat in the heavily Republican district.

Better him than Roemer or Duke. Vote for the crook, it’s important.
Make a classic Demorat.
Just what this Country needs
More 86 year old jerks telling this Nation what to do..
FORGET IT OLD TIMER..YOUR CLOCK IS RUNNING OUT, AND MORE THAN LIKELY YOUR BRAIN DIED 20 YEARS AGO..
enough of this bull TERM LIMITS..AGE LIMITS AS WELL..
A Democrat whose served time is probably more trustworthy than any of the Dems who are currently in congress.
He needs to be found in bed with a dead girl or a living boy. :P
Well the second possibility would make him a media hero these days.
That’s an extremely slim margin. Such a claim also threatens to rate Rod Blagojevich, Kwame Kilpatrick and Ray Nagin “more trustworthy” than the average Dem currently in Congress by that marginand I would trust none of the above in Congress any more than Edwards.
Hell, he will probably win. As much as I love the people of Louisiana, well most of them they do like their cons and crooks in public office.
Will his night nurse get overtime as she follows him daily to wipe the drool from his chin?
I guess the writer for Politico has never met Ed. He could charm the Naugahide off a couch and turn it into a pocketbook with money inside.
Slicker than Bill Clinton (if that is possible), damned good looking even at his age (his hair is to die for), and so full of himself that you’ll find his picture in the dictionary under “Super Ego”.
I liked the bastard when I knew him. A typical Louisiana old school politician. As crooked as they come and proud of it.
IOW, one with whom you knew where you stood and was at least predictable in his moves. Law enforcement took note of that, too.
Begs the question as to any extraneous “cause” of Katrina: “global warming” as Hillary pointed out, or Louisiana’s fondness for immorality even in their governance? (Could be taken as rhetorical.)
Back in the ‘70’s, during an interview a reported asked about is marital infidelity, in which Edwards responded “Some politicans like kissing babies, I like kissing the mamas.”
Another one is when he was asked if he would be indicted in a gambling scandal. His response was something like....”3-1 I don’t”
