Let’s play a game. It’s called: “Who’s the Thug?”
It’s the day after Thanksgiving 2012, and four teenagers are sitting in a Dodge Durango outside a convenience store in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Durango is red, which is unimportant. The teenagers are black, which is important.
The teenagers are planning to try to pick up some girls later in the evening and have stopped for some gum — “so our breath would smell good,” one will later testify — and cigarettes. The teenagers are playing loud music in the Durango.
A car pulls up next to the Durango, parking very close to it. Inside is Michael Dunn, 45, a software developer, and his fiancée. Both are white. Dunn’s fiancée goes into the store while Dunn waits in the car.
The couple are coming from the wedding of Dunn’s son. They have Dunn’s 7-month-old dog with them. Dunn had two drinks at the wedding but is not “buzzed,” he will later say. He describes his mood as happy.
But the loud, throbbing music from the Durango upsets him. It is rattling his rearview mirror, he will later claim. The music, he will say, is “ridiculously, obnoxiously loud thug music” and “rap crap.”
Dunn does not change parking spaces or go inside the store to join his fiancée and escape the noise. Instead, he rolls down his window and asks the teenagers to turn down the music. “They shut it off, and I was like, ‘Thank you,’” Dunn later tells police....

Blacks are seven times more likely than people of other races to commit murder, and eight times more likely to commit robbery.
Blacks are three times more likely to use a hand gun, and twice more likely to use a knife.
Hispanics commit three times more violent crimes than whites, but the statistics are nebulous because sometimes they are classified as white, so it could be far higher.
The best indicator of violent crime levels in an area is the percent of the population that is black and Hispanic. Blacks are 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against whites then vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit a robbery. Forty-five percent of black crime is against whites, 43 against other blacks, and 10 percent against Hispanic.
The white guys with the guns are going to be the people who drag your a$$ out of the line of fire, defend you and feed you as long as they are able to do so - when the SHTF - and it will.

Dunn is a murderer and should go to prison for life. That being said, no one EVER was shot over Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, et.al, and those bands played LOUD music, too. Shows you how far we’ve fallen....
It would be nice to hear from 1 of the 3 who voted for acquittal on that charge.
We heard from 1 or the 9 who voted guilty this morning.
White Liberals with a smug attitude are the worst thugs, they keep minorities on the plantation with their NPR voices and their plastic bananna platitudes, they are such great thugs no one realizes they are enguaged in thuggery most of the time...
They steal everyone’s future for promise of a brighter next day that never materializes, only the excuses for it not being there tomorrow do.
Are you including Michael Dunn in that assessment?
I guess a deafening high decibel intrusion on every’s ears around them is nothing. And threatening to kill someone is nothing. No, it’s only something when a white person responds.

The kids drove away, for who knows how far.
Even in my relatively tame area, I vacate the area of thugs with thumping rap.
To engage them with any requests for quiet is insane.
Maryland does not allow me to carry a gun.
They seem to be frequently exempt from that law.
Very prejudicially written article. I don’t think Dunn was right in escalating the situation. He was not physically threatened by the music. I agree that SYG was not an issue here. I do think it a strong likelihood that the teens had a gun, but if so, why didn’t they defend themselves? The jury was right to convict. P.S. I’m white.
If blacks are thugs and whites are thugs we just need to separate.

The real crime here is conflating Michael Dunn with George Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman might want to look at suing Mr. Simon.
Which is exactly why John Wilkes Booth shot President Lincoln.
White is always guilty, even if confronting feral savages.
But who are the real thugs? The unarmed black kids who play loud music or walk to stores to buy Skittles? Or the white guys who are armed to the teeth and quick on the trigger?
If he has to ask the question, he will neither understand nor accept any answer.
