Captns are not paid to be friendly.
That may be true, and thanks for mentioning it as I’ll look into this, but underlings usually see anyone in charge as jerks. I’ve not known many people that praise management.
Captain may have been a jerk but remember you are dealing with union sailors here. One small spot in the movie showed the union attitude.
The movie was true Captain Phillips was taken hostage on the life boat that is what the movie is based on.
