resident Obama is launching a new initiative to help young men of color. It’s called My Brother’s Keeper.
The President told Charles Barkley in a television interview last night that he wants create special educational, mentorship and apprenticeship programs – for a specific segment of the population.
“We’re going to pull together private philanthropies, foundations working with governors, mayors non-profits and we’re going to focus on young men of color and find ways in which to create more pathways to success for them,” the president told Barkley.
He said he wants to expose young men of color to career options that could pay as much as $35 an hour.
“Across the board from the time they’re young all the way to their first job, we want to help more young African-American men and Latino men succeed,” he said.
I applaud the president’s initiative – but what about the young, white man looking for a job?
Where are the special programs designed to help him get a leg up in the world? Where are the mentoring and interning opportunities for white kids from impoverished neighborhoods?
The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. once had a dream that his children would one day live in a nation where they would not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Let’s hope in the future that President Obama applies that same standard when it comes time to helping young men find jobs – no matter the color of their skin.
Large numbers of ybms are not. A great many of them hate school , get in trouble with the law, and have an attitude that the world owes them. The solution: explain to these ybms who are having problems finding jobs that studying hard in school, obeying the law, and having a positive attitude towards life is the gateway to success in life. Sounds easy, doesn't it? (smirk)
I would suggest changing sports scholarships into academic scholarships. Maybe the college makes money on sports but the individual makes money on education.
If you follow his past agenda, I’d say he’d want white guys to have jobs, to pay taxes, and transfer that earned wealth to others so they won’t have to work.
But, he has his H8YT going on so strong that he would probably go against all reason and prevent them from being employed as well.

That is the issue for the gubmint: if it can’t maintain a better standard of living for those that bother to get up and work every day, then soon nobody will be working. Happened to western Europe years ago, and it is happening here already; if working a job lands you in the same boat as somebody who doesn’t bother, then people are just going to drop off the payrolls and onto the welfare rolls. Urban America saw this first; low-skilled workers living across the hall from welfare deadbeats.
I seem to remember when the LIBS thought it a great idea for prisons to give College Credits to inmates at OUR expense.
I am a little ‘iffy’ on the College Credits but it may help a number of people to ‘get on path’.
The IDIOCY takes over when they start at 8th and 9th Grade Level and when we said “They, like all of us, were required by law to be in school until 16 years old, so we have already mostly paid for the 8th, 9th and 10th grade studies etc”, we were deemed racists and heartless.
Anyone surprised that the racist in chief only cares about brown skinned people?

Our ruling class will never be honest with our unassimilated urban minorities concerning their plight; they have no future, and are losing out to immigrants who land here with no English skills, little education, but a burning desire to succeed. At this point most high school diplomas, and a good number of college degrees, awarded to “preferred minorities” are worthless...
The senior executives would mentor women and minorities. . . .and receive extra pay for doing so.
They would NOT receive extra pay for mentoring white males, which meant the W/Ms never were "sponsored" and rarely received bonuses or invites to highly-visible events, thereby becoming invisible and "stuck" while the less able, less experienced would be rewarded with pay, special training programs and promotions.
And the company is wondering why they are hemorrhaging experienced W/Ms with all the experience. . .in favor of diversity hires.
A group of new hires would be paraded through on a tour. . .usually all engineers. Of this group there would be about 20% W/M and the rest were women and minorities. . . .but the percentage of women and minorities graduating with engineering degrees are no where near 80%.
We are killing our own industry and competitiveness.

if anything obama is working to get white men out of jobs, so that those jobs will hire his desired friends of color.

Certainly; meaningless GPA boosters that promote victimhood and “explain” the failure that is sure to follow graduation. Because of these classes, employers want to know your GPA in classes related to your major; they know the game.
What makes Obama think they want jobs? Most are doing fine without them.
