Why is there the standing perception that all legislators have to be “friends?” McCain would be “good friends” with Satan if he won a seat.
We have to repudiate this congressional culture and demand that our reps start representing the interests of their constituents, other hostile legislators be damned.

I have raised this question (rhetorically) many times:
Why would someone spend $millions to get elected to a political seat that pays $174,000 per year in salary?
Of course we know it isn't the salary, but the perks and power that come with the position. How many nearly impoverished young politicians got elected, made a career out of politics, and retired wealthy?
