Admittedly I don’t listen to Christian rap or rap of any kind for that matter, but after watching this news report I had to hear Bizzle’s new song which is a well thought out response from a Christian perspective to Macklemore’s song “Same Love.”- (the song the played at the Grammys for the big gay wedding.)
And let me say Bizzle’s new song doesn’t pull any punches at all. It treads in love but it doesn’t tread lightly. It’s quite powerful actually.

I agree. A lot of people don’t like Gregorian chant (it is repetitive and can be boring) or Bach. I don’t like heavy metal. I do like Christians and the people who try to communicate to people who otherwise might not be listening. This is poetry, not the best but pretty good and chanted. To lump all people into one category is amazing.

I’m a 50 year old white guy so I wasn’t raised on it. I like some Christian rap, not much of it, I like some southern gospel, but after a couple of songs it all sounds the same.
What matters is the message, and is the performer walking the walk; if you look hard enough you’ll find some deficiencies in these areas in every genre of Christian music.
The most popular Christian rapper is Lacrae, and he has a tremendous personnel testimony: http://www.iamsecond.com/seconds/lecrae/ and while I don’t like all his music, he’ll reach people for the Lord who are never going to listen to organ music.

"Traditional" Rap is all about bitches, hos, killing cops and getting even wit whitey. Trying to get your message out by emulating these murdering thugs is at the very least...deceptive.
You think the gangsta-rapper and ghetto hos, are going to give this "artist" a second listen?
I suppose you could record a long compilation of car crashes, breaking glass and screaming, string it all together in an audio stream and call it music, or art...but it isn't.
Neither is rap. Other than the writing of the lyrics, minimal talent is used.

Your circular "reasoning" really is bigotry by stereotyping.
Example:
A. I had a teacher who always wore green.
B. I hated her because she was mean.
C. My sister likes to wear green.
D. Therefore I am justified in hating my sister, because all females who wear green are mean."
I loathe the rap form. But I like this guy's use of it to reach people who might otherwise not hear this message. John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church movement, did the same thing in the 1700s by resetting drinking songs with Christian lyrics and going into the taverns to reach people who were shut out by the snobbish Anglican church — and some of those songs are still sung 200+ years later.
Try not to be a hater in order to hate haters.
Dylan has a gift, but all Dylan’s songs were markedly better when someone else performed them.
Well I think this is an excellent sign that the Christian rapper’s rap hit home.

Well, I say if Jesus could be born a redneck (before rednecks were cool, when they were despised as low class riff raff) then Christians can rap a gospel out. Bizzle has made a pretty good essay at the matter to the depth of his knowledge.
Personally I prefer a country idiom, but if the Holy Ghost said to me to write rap, rap I would write.
I think we will hit gold with songs that can actually help walk someone in this position through the process of renewal. We can talk about repentance in the abstract till we are blue in the face. Bizzle did the best he could. The theological key here is to offer the members of one’s body to the Lord as weapons of righteousness. When that’s done, the blessings WILL flow. God the Father will SO honor that. Maybe I will put that in a song, if nobody else does. My rhymes, my verses are rough. They aren’t refined like trained songwriters’. But if that’s what it takes I will do it.

Oh I’d love to “make you do that.” But if it’s Christian forms, then be honest. Don’t selectively quote.
And actually, I probably could improve on it and make it tougher. Bizzle’s format is a trifle dilute, IMHO.
I can just imagine you, driving down the road, in your redneck pickup, sub-woofers pounding out some synthesized noise, listening continuously to this...stuff...and annoying all you pass by.
When they added a small drum kit to our modern music service at church I made some quip to a very elderly woman. She laughed, and said “My parents thought what I listened to was the Devil’s music.” I asked her “Huh?” “I loved big band music. My parent’s thought anything that had horns in it was from the Devil.”
I don’t care for most of the Christian rap my kid’s listen to, but when I can understand the word’s, the one’s they listen to have a powerful message. Two of them also like “Screamo” ‘music’. Agreed it is not music to my ears, but my parent’s though the same about mine as well.
