The guys doing last minute wrenching before the start of the 2000-mile long Iron Dog race tomorrow! And taking a break to "fuel up" on (the usual) moose chili and blueberry pie.
halfway through the starters now.
Team 20 checking gear, checking arm pit flaps naturally.
Better check their dang GPS - not ‘bouncing’ yet on the main map!
Team 31 on the line, they say the temps will be MUCH colder in McGrath, at least -8F.
(I should've looked a little closer ;-D )
Todd Palin up next they say on TV, and a commercial of course, oh the misery! I have to watch live TV!
been watching the Olympics all last week, recorded everything and skipped about 70% of the useless commentary and commercials. Gotta give the Russians credit though.
Ok, back on, Team 5 is at the line right now.
Team 9 about to leave.
Nikolai is even colder!
Per Harriet (Iron Dog)
2-16; skwentna, snow -2 feels like -2, 2 MPH winds, forecast today is light snow 20-50 Chance of snow showers

Huntington and Palin are coming up.
Team 11, Todd Palin and partner Huntington just left.
They’re off!!!
11 - Huntington / Palin Checked out of Big Lake at 11:58:00 02/16/14
Team 16 about to leave. 2009 Champion.
Todd & Tyler both pinging on the big GPS map!
Team 24 about to leave, KTUU is doing a decent job I must say.
Very disappointing that KTUU didn’t get their online streaming up for the start .... lots of unhappy campers.
Gonna go have lunch right now and see what the kids are up to outside, I bet traffic is one big mess out on the highwy out past my subdivision, its right at the Parks Hiway, the only two lane road from Wasilla to Fairbanks, and the road to Big lake to the start is just a mile or so down the road.
But those that know know that, kinda hard to explain to anyone outside Alaska. We don’t really have any major highways across the state.
Big joke about rural internet access, I live technically in Big Lake, no high speed internet here, just dialup or my 4G cell phone to my tablet. But I may get the tablet fired up so I can follow the GPS.

TYVM!
Woo-Hoo!
My wife and I both got our pics taken with Sarah. She was so gracious to delay getting into her truck to satisfy two out of towners. Todd also got off his snow machine to come shake my wife’s hand but I may have missed the photo op as he was 2 minutes from launch and had to do it quick. I had the zoom setting all wrong and may have missed it.
We have been stalking the Palins since a rally in 2008...it took 6 years but success!
Will post pics later when I get them off my camera...may be a few days.
