A Pickens woman has been arrested and charged after deputies said she failed to return a Jennifer Lopez movie she rented in 2005.
Kayla Michelle Finley, 27, has been charged with failure to return a rented video cassette, according to the Pickens County Sheriff's Office.
According to warrants Finely rented Monster-In-Law from Dalton Video, which is no longer in business, in 2005 and the tape was not returned within 72 hours.
Finley was sent letters to return the video several times but never responded, according to the warrant. It also said a certified warrant was sent to the woman on Sept. 12, 2005.
Finley denied ever getting those warnings, and said she would fight the charges.

This is either a joke or there are too many deputies with too much time on their hands.
Time to start laying them off.
Yah, guaranteed to rocket to 3+ comments.
Seriously, How do they prove she received any warrant info? And, for that matter, how do they prove she did not return the video? Also, I would think when they closed the business, they would have used the loss on their taxes for anything they did not receive back.
Yes. yes you did. :-)
Isn’t the fact she rented a JLo movie punishment enough?
No, this is exactly the way the bureaucrats want the system to function. This girl now has an arrest record, and that makes her easier to *control*, and abuse later. She’s been entered into the *system*.
Clearly a TERRORIST threat! I say send her to Guantanamo and let her rot!
By the way did she rewind the tape? If not then the death penalty would be to good for her!
That’s true, charges should be dropped immediately. Some type of hero citizen award should given to her.
This is just total BS. The cops say the warrant still has to be served. Well then why didn’t they serve it?
I am astounded at the number of outstanding warrants. Can’t the cops just go to her house or her place of work and serve her a warrant?
Too busy tasering old men for jay walking, shooting dogs and eating donuts I guess.
That’s what I thought... not like a public library. If you kept the tape (or disk), you paid for it.
There was a video store in Eugene that loaned Bo Derek movies, free of charge. The only catch was that you couldn’t complain about how bad they were.
“Hey man, don’t Bundy that video.”
“Sounds like they should have had the SWAT Team serve a no knock warrant on her.”
I hope that she doesn’t have a dog.
Golly, is she being charged for theft or for being a moron and renting “Monster-in-Law” (or any other J-Lo video). If it’s the later, they ought to lock her up for life in an insane asylum.
I had a poster of her!
She should be rewarded for keeping others from seeing the movie.
