Our View: Cornyn, Scherr deserve parties' nominations in Senate primaries (LSM Endorsement)

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, is seeking another six-year term in the Senate. None of his Republican primary challengers has convinced us they should replace Cornyn on the GOP ticket.

-snip-

Cornyn, the Senate minority whip, deserves the opportunity to continue his fight against President Obama’s agenda of bigger government and overspending.

He calls the national debt “beyond comprehension” and said the next six years must see the government gain humility and slow spending.

“Our out-of-control spending agenda has resulted in trillion-dollar deficits, a ballooning national debt and a government that now borrows 40 cents out of every dollar it spends from places like China,” he said.

-snip-

Cornyn estimates he and Sen. Ted Cruz are at the same conservative level and said they work well together as Texas senators.

“Cornyn estimates he and Sen. Ted Cruz are at the same conservative level and said they work well together as Texas senators.”

roflol!

Cornyn and Cruz found themselves increasingly at odds in a tense public battle over whether to use a potential government shutdown as leverage to defund Obamacare. After initially signing on to Cruz’s effort, Cornyn withdrew his support and became a leading critic of the tactic, helping quash any momentum his colleague hoped to gain on the Senate floor

A source in Congress tells Breitbart News that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn are using their leadership positions to pressure other Republicans to oppose Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in his campaign to defund Obamacare.

“Right now in the Senate, Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn are actively whipping Senators to shut down debate on the House continuing resolution so that Harry Reid can gut it with just 51 votes,” a senior congressional staffer with intimate knowledge of the situation said in an email to Breitbart News. “Unbelievably, they actually are leading the fight to fully fund Obamacare.”

What sort of man can stand up and talk like that, while simultaneously helping to cut off any opportunity to honestly fix the problem?

I seriously cannot think with that level of deceit.

You know he thinks he’s in trouble when he says he and Cruz are on the same level. It reminds me of people running in 1992 whose only campaign slogan was “I’m like Ross Perot.”

Yet it seems the Texas Tea Partiers are running two men against him in the primary vote beginning on Monday and most of us don’t know which one to vote for. If they are running for the good of the country why not just let one good man run and win? I suspect there is more than duty involved in this race. I also am afraid Cornyn wins again. I have decided to vote for Dwayne Stovall but I know little about him. I have heard mostly negative news about Stockman, thus my decision.
