CLEVELAND, Ohio (CBS Cleveland) - Cleveland authorities have made several arrests following the mob beating of a disabled Army veteran by a group of teenagers.
Last Friday, the victim, Matthew Robinson, was surrounded by between six and eight teenagers while riding the RTA Healthline. Robinson told WOIO that he was attacked by the teens, then robbed of his possessions.
During the attack, the teens made several derogatory remarks about Robinson.
What they were saying was, Knock that boy out! White boy. Cracker, he was quoted as saying about the incident. They were saying, Knock that white boy out.
This week, three suspects Kenneth Matthews, Ronald Reid Williams and an unnamed 16-year-old girl were arrested by Cleveland and RTA police. The latter filmed the attack with her cell phone, and was said to still have the video at the time of her apprehension.
Despite the arrests, concern remains as other attacks of a similar nature have happened in the area, most of which are said to have been perpetrated by other young culprits, according to WOIO.
Added Robinson of the danger, Your mother or sister could be on the bus, and the same thing could happen to them.
I won’t fight them if they attack me. That is why I CCW.
All Veterans, Disabled people, Elderly White Folks, and Jews should be armed and trained.
The Vets are already trained.
I fit at least two of those categories.
My understanding, and this is from a self-defense course taught by a law enforcement officer, is that disparity of force (e.g. a gang against one person, or an able-bodied person against a disabled or physically weaker victim) constitutes deadly force, and can be answered with deadly force, even if the attackers are unarmed.

(Not legal advice, I am not an attorney, as opposed to Shotgun Joe Biden, an attorney, who advised people to recklessly discharge a firearm in likely violation of the law.)
For various reasons, I can’t always CCW, but I always have a knife (legally, of course). And I have taken the time to learn how to use one. Hence, they BLEED.
Your way works too, of course.
I would not.
Most of these young thugs do not want a fair fight. They pick on easy white people; disabled, elderly or unsuspecting. I try to avoid being in a vulnerable position and would flee to a safer place to take them on in the light and in public, if absolutely necessary.
Would hate to fight them hand to hand without my CCW, but if I have to, certainly will. They are without conscience, and totally ruthless; yet they are cowards.Best thing you can do in a city where you cannot carry is profile and avoid trouble by keeping your distance.
Yup. Situational awareness is key. Was taught that by my Dad, who grew up in a tough place. Gentlest man alive unless someone threatens his family. Do that, then he brings the wrath. Only seen it once. Was a BAD day for the fool who crossed that line.
PS I also always have a tac light. Aluminum frame. Funny, you can bring those on a plane...
Thank you for the story about your dad. Stay safe, my friend.
