Aussie Cops Arrest Muslim Imam for Marrying Off 12-Year-Old Girl

How was he to know it was wrong? The Imam was from Pakistan where raping children is a routine fact of life.

Police have arrested and charged a Muslim imam accused of conducting the marriage of a 12-year-old girl in the Hunter Valley this year. Imam Muhammad Riaz Tasawar, from Pakistan, will face court in April.

The Muslim cleric had come to Australia on an employment visa sponsored by The Islamic Centre of Newcastle. He worked at the center for four years before news of the illegal union spread.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad arrested the 35-year-old Pakistan-born man outside Parramatta police station about 4.30pm on Monday afternoon, police said.

Police will allege he agreed to conduct a ceremony after he was approached by a 26-year-old man, who was eager to marry the girl.

The 26-year-old, a Lebanese man who is living in Australia on a student visa, has been charged with 25 counts of having sexual intercourse with an underage child.

It had been reported the imam had gone to ground. “He was located outside the police station,” a police spokesman said.

“It wasn’t arrest by appointment or anything like that, just that we happened to find him outside the police station.”

Detectives allege the father allowed his daughter to be married to the 26-year-old at his house in a private Islamic ceremony on January 12.

The case of a father who allowed his 12-year-old daughter to marry ”for love” may be one of at least 250 similar incidents across the nation in the past two years, a legal expert has warned.

There will be a lot more cases like this if Muslim migration to Australia continues.

To those in the know... here's a question

Is this part of Sharia law both Sunni and Shia?

If so, how is Oklahoma banning Sharia law considered unconstitutional?

Too stupid to live in our country.

USA =/= Pakistan.

This of course is a test case to push sharia law in the USA.

“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.” - Charles James Napier

RE: Or Australia. Still a test case.

So, what if the same thing happened here ( say in New York City, Boston or San Francisco ), will the Imam be arrested?

Depends if it’s discovered and the people discovering it report it. it’d be political suicide (gross negligence) not going after the imam and also not getting the girl out of that house b/c it’d be sexual assault of a minor.

anyone ignoring it would lose their jobs for not doing their jobs.

So, CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) will not come to the Imam’s rescue?

I love that quote, thanks, and wish we still had men so unafraid to speak the unvarnished truth in this day of enforced “celebration of diversity”. The only ones who get away now with not celebrating the sodomite agenda, etc, are Muslims, the very ones who would kill a sodomite. It makes no sense, outside the cynical political one.

CAIR isn’t stupid and this isn’t Pakistan and they know that what Islam allows against females is disgusting to “infidels”.

So they’ll just let this one creep twist in the wind.

Meanwhile the “infidel” justice system needs to throw the muzzie child molester in the clink & let the inmates meet out rough justice.

Or, for another perspective on cultural relativism.

Juliet was 13, and her mother was about the same age when Juliet was born.

Christian tradition holds that the Virgin Mary was 12 when she became pregnant with Christ.

Traditions are not always reliable.

probably close enough to be true...12/14 possible, but in those days, the life expectancy was what???? about 45 or so??

Shia Sharia and Sunni Sharia law are very different, but even within their systems, marriageable age is disputed a lot.

The US in general and Oklahoma in particular is in something of a bind, because courts insist that different religions be treated equally. Both Catholics and Jews have religious courts for social matters, but in both cases, their laws are not objectionable to the secular law. And both have been granted reasonable accommodation by the courts.

But both parties must be agreeable, without any form of coercion at all, to using their religious, instead of secular courts.

The objectionable part is when secular judges want to reference religious law in their rulings. That is generally regarded as unacceptable.

Oklahoma made the mistake of specifically naming Islam in its prohibition of these actions by judges. Early on it was noted that the law would have been constitutional if it had just said they couldn’t reference religious law in their rulings.
