White House science adviser John Holdren, a Stanford-trained physicist who taught at UC Berkeley and has studied the effects of environmental change for much of his career, says President Obama will address climate change in his visit to Fresno on Friday.
You can certainly expect that the president will talk about the connection between the increasing frequency and intensity of droughts and climate change, Holdren said Thursday in a conference call with reporters.
Although droughts are common in the West, Californias current episode is among the strongest of the past 500 years, according to paleo-climate records, and the worst since record-keeping began a century ago, Holdren said. He is director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and co-chair of the Presidents Council of Advisers on Science and Technology.
California isnt the only place in the West experiencing an unusually severe drought, Holdren said. A long dry spell in the Colorado River Basin is probably one of the strongest droughts in that area in the last 1,000 years, he said.
While no specific episode of extreme weather can be linked to climate change, Holdren said, the link between droughts and a warming climate is one of the best understood.
The global climate has now been so extensively impacted by the human-caused buildup of greenhouse gases that weather practically everywhere is being influenced by climate change, Holdren said. That means droughts are becoming more frequent, more severe and are lasting longer, he said.

Hey Zippy! Come on here in NY State today and stress your crap!
The equine has perished, but he stall thrash it none the less.
FUBO AND F GLOBAL WARMING*! It does not exist
*: or Climate Change whatever the term-du-jour is.
Isn’t that area getting more rain lately?
2/3rds of the country is under snow or ice right now and he’s pushing this crap? Why don’t they ever make these presentations in July?
We finally got rain recently and more is coming.. fingers crossed.
It hasn’t done much for the reservoirs but rivers and streams in some harder hit areas have gotten a little relief, but we would need weeks of rain to break the drought.. and even if we did get it,, most of the run-off will flow to the sea.
The state leaders and power brokers have failed to build squat the last decade,, failed bond measures and squandered funds for anything and everything except pursuing a saner policy have prevailed. Moonbeam is no better at it than a kid at the beach with a sand bucket.
Oh yes, the believer in Eugenics, Holdren.
If you can, do me a favor. Get out near the president's motorcade route, and give him the middle finger salute for me when he passes by.
Thanking you in advance...

Yup. You can probably thank the EPA or environmentalists. People should be banging on their desks demanding an explanation. They should be blamed.
I have seen no credible evidence, hard scientific evidence, double sourced, replicated, and triple checked - the real deal - that proves the existence of man made global warming/climate change. I invite anyone to prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that man made global warming/climate change exists. Anyone?

Nice.
This guy is as dumb as Al Gore. It is becoming clear to most in this country that the Global Warming thing is strictly political. And here goes this clown trying to purvey it(push it).
Yes, but you will be able to ride a high speed train to go get some water...
Yeah, but that's "just weather."
