The Waltons was probably the last of the unabashedly moral shows. There was a moral or ethical message in every show but they didn’t portray everyone as perfect. For instance, Jimbob was the wild child hanging out at the Dewdrop inn playing that honky tonk music.
These days Richard Thomas plays a CIA or FBI bigwig on The Americans.
He’s good on The Americans. That show is extremely amoral, but he plays the one character who represents American interests without the various failings that everyone else has.
If you want see episode watch one episode of Law and Order SVU he play homeless man who turn out family man he came down with VD he was killing all these hookers turn out that the vd been treated if his insurance company gave him a shot
He just went crazy was living on the street of course Dick Wolf script writing blame insurance company for all the killing the hookers
So ADA Alex Cabot force the insurance company pay resituation or face 15 years to life in slammer for involunatary manslaughter they settle it
And the amazing thing is how many of us as kids watched it, and Little House, because they were so good.
You could put those two shows on a network in a continuous loop and it would draw better ratings than most of the crap on today.
Jim Bob was the one who loved aviation. It was Jason who was the musician.
I loved that show. I didn’t watch it the first time around, but I’ve become hooked on it in syndication. Back when it first aired, wholesome programming wasn’t in such short supply. Now I treasure any channel I can find with family programming.
I did love the character of John Walton, in spite of his obstinance regarding the family’s faith. He displayed Christian values even if he did resist affiliating himself with the church.
