The racially insensitive lunch menu chosen to celebrate Black History Month that landed a private all-girls, Catholic high school in the national media spotlight has prompted upcoming diversity training for faculty and students.
The controversial choice of fried chicken, watermelon and cornbread for lunch at Carondelet High School in Northern California sparked immediate outrage and offense when announced on the schools public address system Monday, the Contra Costa Times reported.
Principal Nancy Libby sent home two letters to parents last week apologizing for the very unfortunate incident and said a communication breakdown allowed the menu selection to be approved and announced before school officials could stop it.
Id like to apologize for this announcement and any hurt this caused students, parents or community members, Tuesdays letter read, according to the Times. Please know that at no time at Carondelet do we wish to perpetrate racial stereotypes, and we indeed work diligently to do just the opposite.

What pisses me off about this is this is the farthest thing from racially insensitive as one could get.
In the south, during a period of slavery in America, chickens were plentiful, watermelon grew very well, and corn was abundant. These three ingredients made for food that became associated with black culture but is not uniquely black.
As a southern white man, I take offense that these foodstuffs are considered racial in any way. We southerners take our friend chicken very seriously, enjoy the Hell out of some watermelon during the dog days of summer, and cornbread recipes are traded like baseball cards among the great cooks down here.
The point is that while the Left is so busy pinning “racism” on everything, they are neglecting the realities of not only the truth and the facts but the historical significance of things that, yes, were around during slavery and popularized by the Democrat southern white suppression movement as a meme for blacks, but are part and parcel of the essential aspects of southern Americana, regardless of race.
Liberals are going to lose this faux fight, because common sense, thinking Americans are going to tell them to STFU.

IF, during the month of Feb the school DIDN’T have Fried Chicken etal during the month

okay so blacks don’t eat this? lots of wite southern folks lovethis, and i dare say folks all over the country of all different backgrounds eat this.
and why is it okay for popeye’s to have a black woman in southern drawl tawkin ‘bout chicken and biskits? talk about pimping out a stereotype.
the commercial ends with a bunch of blacks singing in southern drawl style, “love that chicken from popeyes”. c’mon.

Mr. Taylor should turn on ESPN radio in Los Angeles right now. They’ve been making fun of a Laker playa they interviewed last night who was unable to speak English. This guy likely had an IQ of about 6 and ge was so steeped in Afro Centric inner city gibberish that he could not function in a conversation about bouncing a little ball around.

This happens every Black History Month.
This is not a white stereotype. Walk into any Soul Food restaurant and you'll find the same items on the menu.
And guess who Popeye's Fried Chicken uses to make their ads?

Forget about appeasing them! You can’t win!
Forty three years ago black students protested because the school lunch menus did NOT include SOUL FOOD!
This month, black students protest because the menus contain SOUL FOOD!
Again, you can’t win! Might as well start serving lutefisk, haggis and Kimshi in February in order not to offend them.

From
The Chicago Lampoon:
Beginning tomorrow night at the Evanston City Hall, The City of Evanston will begin hosting three city-wide events entitled
“My Evanston, My Neighbors: Constructive Dialogues on Race."
|
Madelyn Ducre: Evanston Mau-Mau |
|
|
|
|
|
|
In the Obama era, a "dialogue" on racial issues means having a phalanx of cockamamie, minority race profiteers and other lefties noisily tell a flock of masochistic, self-loathing white people how awful they are.
In the early 70s, Tom Wolfe called this "Mau-Mauing." In fact he wrote a best-selling book called
"Radical Chic and Mau-Mauing the Flack Catchers."
Back then, wealthy liberal New Yorkers would invite radical Black Panthers to their Manhattan salons for a fashionable soiree.
At the soiree, the Black Panthers would harangue the guilt-ridden New York liberals, yell at them, tell them how they were all miserable racists and then demand from them, sizable donations.
That was called "Mau-Mauing."
All in all an enjoyable evening in the weird world of American liberalism.
Now, Evanston's leftist Mayor, Elizabeth Tisdahl, has decided that Evanston liberals all should be able to enjoy a night (or 3) of being Mau-Maued on the city government's dime.
Hence these "Constructive Dialogues on Race."
The idea was actually the brain-child of one Evanston race huckster by the name of Madelyn Ducre.
This civic dynamo has been vocal on such issues as Evanston Police brutality, legalizing pot and keeping in place, the superfluous Evanston Township government.
In expounding on the joys of her new city-sponsored Mau mauing sessions, Ducre told the
Daily Northwestern: "
We're not going to stop hate overnight, but it's a start."
You can see, right off where this thing is going.
"Hate speech", "Hate crimes" and "Hate" in general are leftist code words for evil deeds perpetuated by the white man.
Be sure to be there in Evanston, tomorrow night, for this exciting new development in Obama-era, "racial dialogue."
If you're white, wear a hair shirt.

Yes, and guess just WHY Popeye's and Church's and Bojangles chicken franchises HAPPEN to be located in predominantly black areas?
Because the businesses HATE their customers?
Please.
The only color they care about is GREEN, as in cash.
To paraphrase Dave Chappelle: "I didn't KNOW fried chicken was racist. I just thought it was delicious.".

There was a time when a black man would say that his favorite fruit was watermelon, his favorite dinner was his mom’s fried chicken. And his mom always made the best corn bread. Did we snicker about is choice of food. Hell no! We wished we had his mom to cook our dinner. In fact that dinner would be one we would want!
Clarence Thomas made this comment to the Palm Beach Atlantic University students in West Palm Beach, Florida:
My sadness is that we are probably today more race and difference-conscious than I was in the 1960s when I went to school. To my knowledge, I was the first black kid in Savannah, Georgia, to go to a white school. Rarely did the issue of race come up, said Thomas. Differences in race, differences in sex, somebody doesnt look at you right, somebody says something. Everybody is sensitive. If I had been as sensitive as that in the 1960s, Id still be in Savannah.
