If we spent half the energy and emotion on defeating Democrats that we spend on punishing less than pure Republicans we wouldn’t have the current abominations in the White House and Senate.

Reagan also said, The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally – not a 20 percent traitor.”

You’re quotes are great and your point is good.

Except, I’m not sure the issue is one of agreeing.

There seems to always be 99% agreement.

That is only half the story where Reagan is concerned, and I think you know it.

Reagan was adamantly opposed, and publically stated it, to moderates being in charge of the leadership of the GOP.

“Our people look for a cause to believe in. Is it a third party we need, or is it a new and revitalized second party, raising a banner of no pastels, but bold colors, which make it unmistakably clear where we stand on all of the issues troubling the people?” - Ronald Reagan Speech to CPAC, March 1, 1975

"■I don’t know about you, but I am impatient with those Republicans who after the last election rushed into print saying, “We must broaden the base of our party” – when what they meant was to fuzz up and blur even more the difference between ourselves and our opponents" - Ronald Reagan Speech to CPAC, March 1, 1975

Is that what you call statist Republicans, "less than pure"? Republicans who would slit your throat and kill this nation just so they can get a chance to hold the reins of a powerful centralized Federal government? Republicans who have thoroughly trampled every one of Reagan's principles and sold their souls to the powers in Washington DC? These are "less than pure"? These statists do NOT want to return us to a constitutional government.

Sure, keep on voting for these Repubicans and enjoy your incremental slide into America's death. "Less than pure" - I could throw up.

So you are cool with McConnell’s brand of leadership and his complete capitation to Obama’s agenda?

Given Reagan's actual philosophy of governing, shown by the quotes I have posted, do you really think he would be supportive of the current crop of cowards leading the GOP being in charge of both the Senate and House?

Yes, but we need leadership, not compromise. We need to provide a clear difference between us and them.

Voters are attracted to leaders, not followers.

In light of present realities, that is really a stupid statement. We have spent all our efforts in attempting to defeat democrats only to have our efforts thwarted by the likes of Boehner and McConnell.

Too many of these so-called Republicans are actually working to promote the same agenda as the Democrats, so we are not attempting to punish "less than pure Republicans", but we are trying to replace people who are actively undermining the very principles upon which the Republican party was built.

We can't fight a war with an army full of turncoat generals.

The trouble is that the percentages are now reversed.
