...” Carson’s experience is “not that different from what many others are experiencing,” said GOP lawyer Cleta Mitchell. “It’s quite, quite troublesome and disturbing.”

“I have heard this same story over and over and over throughout the last year,” she said. “I cannot tell you how many donors to conservative organizations, people who have become active, have said ‘I was never audited until I started giving money to X conservative candidate or cause.’”...

The IRS came after us after my husband sent a donation to a local Tea Party. Thankfully, we have used a CPA since we retired years ago and he was furious over what they were trying to do and was very verbal in his communications to them concerning the matter. There was nothing there and no two people could have been as careful to pay the required taxes over the years as we have been. My belief is that they looked at our age and decided they could intimidate us because we are Senior Citizens. The amount of money they told us we owed to them was astronomical and confiscatory of our savings. The whole thing was frightening. We have wondered whether we should go public with what happened to us. Sounds like we have plenty of company. The Gestapo tactics are very sobering. I love Dr. Carson and am very grateful to him for using his visibility to speak out in that wonderfully logical and eloquent way. I saw him on O’Reilly last night and was aghast that O’Reilly seems to think Nazi Germany could not happen here. Stunning!

The same thing happened with us. We kept wondering why they were hassling us, and when I heard the first admission that the IRS had targeted conservatives, a light bulb finally went on. The whole thing had made no sense until then.

Yeah. I saw that too and it was infuriating.

Ted Baxter in his usually condescending way dismissed Dr. Carson's experience and concerns out of hand as if he was just a bit paranoid and over-reacting by seeing boogeymen in the shadows. Baxter said there was "no way" this could become a pattern as we have a "strong system of checks and balances" in our government.

As is usual lately, O'Baxter is a fool 70% of the time and completely out of touch not only with "the folks" but with reality. He loves the sound of his own voice touting his lofty and often mistaken opinions. I notice even Dennis Miller is getting exasperated by his bloviating.
