Report: 'Noah' Fixated on 'Overpopulation and Environmental Degradation'
Breitbart News ^ | February 12, 2014 | Christian Toto

Director Darren Aronofsky initially described his vision for Noah, the big-budget interpretation of the Biblical story, as a look at the world's first environmentalist.

A person who caught an early test screening of the film says Aronofsky's template is still present in the movie's rough cut.

The Hollywood Reporter's new feature on the film, set for a March 28 release, details the behind-the-scenes wrangling between the film's director and the studio, all with an eye on the people of faith curious to see the story on the big screen. Test screenings haven't softened worries that spiritual audiences may not embrace what they see.

Further, THR spoke with several people who saw an early test screening in Southern California's Orange County and who identified themselves as religious. One viewer, who declined to give his name because Paramount required him to sign a nondisclosure agreement, echoed the sentiments of others by criticizing the depiction of Noah as a "crazy, irrational, religious nut" who is fixated on modern-day problems like overpopulation and environmental degradation.

I’ve started to hear the new terminology so I guess the zombies have their marching orders.

It’s not “global warming,” it’s no longer “climate change.”

It’s “environmental system degradation.”

Now report to your inner-city high-rise unit and give us your 401k so we can protect the planet from you.

I didn’t waste my time with the rewrite of John Adams. I enjoyed A Beautiful Mind as a completely fictitious story, but Ron Howard did not portray John Nash as a fictitious character.

Since I know virtually nothing of John Nash it's likely I don't get how badly it was futzed-up.
I really liked the John Adams series, thought they did a decent job (though I'll admit I'm not the best at history) from what I remember reading about him.

You and I are in agreement insomuch as the earth, according to your reference in Genesis, was covered with water. It was not flooded at that point, as it was in Noah’s flood.

The key word here is “flood”, which is an outpouring of water onto otherwise dry land. In Genesis 1 the Lord created earth and it appears that in the process God designed a world covered in water. Later we read that the Lord separated the waters and formed dry land:

“And God said, “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” And it was so.” Genesis 1:9 ESV

Matters not to me how much negative press the demonic, anti-God leftists in this country peddle. They're not going to convince me to spend my money to watch this blasphemous, new age piece of environmental, anti-human garbage. Nobody I know will watch this load of crap in a theater. They'll be luck if we watch it on cable a couple of years from now. Like the junk movie "Jesus Christ Superstar" of yesteryear I believe Noah will also go down as a major bust at the box office. Hopefully the producers will lose their shirts on this one. Had they at least tried to be as true to the Biblical version of Noah as Mel Gibson tried to be with Jesus of Nazareth's last 12 hours as a man in the "The Passion of Christ" there would be lines around the movie theaters like there were some 30 years ago when Star Wars first hit the theaters.
Aah... but what do I know. I only get to save my money instead of putting into the pockets of atheist propagandists right? ;)

“The opening scene? Moses rowing up to the ark in a small row boat. It was a horrible farce that was supposed to be like Mel Brooks style movie.”

Well, I have no problem with stuff like that, as long as it’s marketed as comedy and not something serious. For example, I enjoyed “Year One” despite its countless theological errors, because it didn’t try to sell itself as anything other than a dumb comedy that happened to be set in some semblance of Biblical times.

Didn’t we get a modern day Noah story recently from Hollywierd. 2012 Man is god in that one and with several arks but it was a bad story “Gen 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

The Book was better. ;-)

And why do Christians beg for crumbs from those who steal their bread? (And poisoned crumbs at that!) God didn’t leave us dependent on Hollywood for these wonderful stories. Quit acting like Hollywood owns the copyright.

here we go again, to be followed by a pro-commie “Animal Farm”

If "Animal Farm" has communist overtones to it then at least it remains close to the original book. Based on the trailer I saw, "Noah" doesn't.

“...don’t see how Aronofsky ties it into an Old Testament deal...”

The Old Testament contains an oral history of the Flood Epic that also crosses many ancient cultures. The fact that the Flood Epics are found in many ancient cultures supports the evidence that the Old Testament account of Noah is based on a real flood. The idea that this weakens the Genesis flood account rather than supporting it is backwards logic.

If we are nearing the end of these times, I would expect those of this earth, those who follow the current, but temporary, ruler of this world, to do everything possible to distort and diminish the biblical stories that deal with consequences, His Wrath and Judgment.

Just another form of end times Christian persecution.

All paying any attention know that/how these times will end and as the hours slip away the losing side's efforts to take as many down as possible accelerate.

What else can the deceived do?

Prayers for their and our correction. Loving those that hate you back seems impossibly hard to me at this point on my path, but we are to repay evil with Love and I'm going to need some help with that.

Environmentalism is the liberal religion.

Ironically, the paganism that God destroyed in the flood is now “good” in the liberal world, and holiness is the liberal’s only evil.

“Quit acting like Hollywood owns the copyright.”

Not at all. It is a good exercise to reveal the underhanded efforts to corrupt God’s Word.

My post was speaking generally, not to you in particular.

It disappoints me to see so many people saying, in essence: “Why doesn’t Hollywood make movies about Bible stories, so we can finally find out what God wants us to know?”

It’s as if the Catholic Church was still banning the printing of Bibles or the translation into English. We are not dependent on ANYONE for God’s truth except God Himself...and He has spread a feast before us in abundance! We ought to stop waiting on Hollywood (or Rome, for that matter) to feed us anything worth eating.

You're right.

Hollywood hates Christians and Orthodox Jews.. they want to pretend Noah's Al Gore and Jesus is gay. Can we assume God (in their book) wants the United States destroyed and a liberal dictator put in charge? It's insulting - but then again we hate their movies and don't watch them... and we tell our children and grandkids not to watch their filth. So it's no surprise they hate us more than we hate them.

Hollywood could make more money if they spread their love to radical Muslims who will just casually kill them for the insults...

Agreed - but I guess my point was why does Hollywood (of all places) assume they have anyone's best interests at heart making a Bible based story? Yes, decades ago we were thrilled with Ben Hur, The Robe and The Ten Commandments among others - but modern Hollywood is a despicable collection of druggies and sex perverts.

Noah as the world's first enviro "wacko"? - Please . . .

Frankly, I don’t hate the ppl in Hollywood. I hate the films they often produce, but I don’t hate the individuals. I despise the material they write, and their exploitation and glorification of evil, but I don’t hate the artists.

I try to love them as Christ would, and Christians must engage Hollywood at a personal level, but that doesn’t mean we have to watch their films - especially films which exploit and assault the Word of God.
