Boehner, A Proven Failure at Leadership: With Just 28 GOP Votes, House Agrees to Raise Debt Limit

The House of Representatives, by a narrow margin, on Tuesday passed clean legislation raising the government's borrowing authority for one year in order to avoid a default that was looming at the end of this month.

By a vote of 221-201, the House passed the bill, adhering to President Barack Obama's demand that it have no unrelated conditions attached. With House passage, the bill now goes to the Senate, where debate could begin on Wednesday.

Only 28 of the House's 232 Republicans voted for the measure, leaving Democrats to provide most of the votes for passage.

Republican Speaker John Boehner allowed the vote, ignoring factions of his party that called for tying the measure to defunding of Obamacare and including benefits for military retirees.

Boehner acknowledged before the vote that Democrats would need to back the measure, which would get minimal Republican support.

"We’ll let the Democrats put the votes up," Boehner said, adding that he had spoken to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, who told him there will be enough Democratic support to pass the measure.

Is he the only “Republican” from WA State. I think Jack Metcalfe is the only good Republican WA State ever had.

Irving, TX, is competing with Irvine, CA, for conservative city moving left. Both are potential disasters.

Olson is the former chief of staff to John Cornball. You won’t get anything out of either of them.

Chris 37: The Bible says warn a divisive man once or twice and have nothing more to do with him...CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED.

YOU have only been here barely one year, so I suspect you are a mole, and sent to keep people from voting, period.

There are several of you who aren’t conservatives, but using the old adage ‘divide and conquer’ or ‘united we stand, divided we fall’....being divisive you are always negative.

I, for one, am not deceived about your purpose, it is not to support voting out Democrats, but to keep GOP voters from supporting their ONLY hope and stop them from voting.

There is NOTHING else to be done but VOTE THE DEMOCRATS OUT...period. “If you do not vote you are part of the problem and not part of the solution!” YOU are as guilty as the Democrats for not standing up and being counted, while we still can!

Stuart Varney, Fox Business, is very smart and you are not, and conservatives would be wise to listen to what he says.

I am well aware of this fact. That was one of my misgivings about Olson to begin with and I have been watching him like a hawk. He says the right stuff, but when it comes to the nut cuttin’..... I’m not impressed, either.

I’ve about had my fill of Naval Aviators in office.

Time to send in some Marines. Jerry Patterson is one.

Been here since 2008, bud.

You don’t seem to have a firm grasp on simple reality.

Furthermore, voting out democans and replacing them with republicrats doesn’t mean anything, and it doesn’t solve anything.

The GOP is my enemy just as the democrat party is my enemy just as they are your enemy.

I suggest you wise up.

Well if everybody is your enemy...just saying.

I’m not the one who needs to wise up! You are. Divisiveness is demonic.

Everyone in the government is, yes.

Tell you what. How about you stop attacking me give me a positive reason that I should vote GOP.

Tell exactly what the GOP has done, is doing or will do to earn my vote.

List for me the last strategic victory the GOP has engineered over the democrats which may suggest that they have the knowledge and experience to do again in the future.

List for the last time the GOP successfully stemmed the tide of government tyranny via tactics or strategy.

List for me any time the GOP has successfully stemmed the tide of government tyranny via tactics or strategy.

Sell your party to me.

Go.

A positive reason you should shu tup and vote GOP is that you don’t understand real political power and how the Congress actual works, and by not voting you help the democrats.
YOU ARE HELPING THE DEMOCRATS GET RE ELECTED.

Obviously, you don’t understand politics. Without the Senate majority there is little the GOP can do to make your desired changes, the far right is not the majority of their voting block. The democrats are more united than the conservatives....and that works to Obama/Pelosi/Reid’ benefit. The democrats love GOP divisive voices.

So until you learn that nothing will change until the GOP gets the Senate, then you are a divisive tactic of the democrat party to help them win. Get educated on politics and how it actually works. The House has little real power to make legislative change without the votes in the Senate!

Keep up the traitorous attitude toward the GOP and you will end up with Tyranny, the democrats are counting on you and your whining buddies to keep conservatives from gaining the Senate. Without GOP majority Obama continues to make law by Executive Orders, with GOP Majority he becomes a lame duck without any power, as they hold the votes FOR IMPEACHMENT AND DEFUNDING OBAMACARE SO WAKE UP.

The time for going after the GOP is when they actually have the Senate and can actually do something, right now they have no power and can’t do any of the things you are whining that they don’t do...don’t vote and you will be shut up by the dictator. You choose.

One more thing to all of you...I may not agree with the GOP and do agree with some of what you say, however that does not help us in any way...what helps is VOTING FOR THE GOP TO DEFEAT THE DEMOCRATSZ, AND being UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL....LEARN THAT! Without that you will be shut up by the dictator and this opportunity will pass and you will see your family under the control of what you claim you want to defeat.

Get the GOP the Senate, and then go after them...when they have the votes to actually change something!

This AM, to Roger Williams, TX-25:

"Do you support John Boehner to continue as Speaker of the House? Will you make a public statement in this regard?"

No reply as yet.

What happened to the size and scope of government when the GOP controlled the White House, Senate and House?

Our problem here in the 22nd is that no one saw fit to oppose Olson in the Primary.

May just have to vote for myself as a write in.

Hey. We could do worse! :-)

When the GOP had the house and the senate, they spent like drunken sailors.

You can KMA, I won't vote for a liberal republican. I'm a conservative, not a republican.

I won't vote for Cornyn in the primary, and if he gets the nomination, I won't vote for him in the general.

Your GOP just passed Nancy Pelosi's debt ceiling bill. The GOP has to go.

When the dictator lines you up and shoots you, be sure to tell him you helped him get that power...maybe you will get a pardon. “Stupid is as stupid does.”

You can't refute that the republicans are HELPING the democrats. Your Speaker, with the help of liberal democrats, just passed the borrowing cap extension.

I won't get lined up and shot, hero. That's for those that enable liberalism, by trying to get people to vote for liberal republicans.

People here on FR aren't buy the crap that you are selling.

Choke on it.

Obviously you do not understand what a positive reason is.

I knew that you wouldn’t understand what a positive reason is, so I listed examples of what a positive reason to vote for the GOP would be after I asked for one.

You failed to list even one, which I knew would be the case.

The reason I knew you would fail to list even one is because one does not even exist.

The fact of the matter is, sir, that I understand politics quite well, and you do not.

You, like the rest of us, have been lied to by the us government of which elected members of the GOP are part.

You have been lied to for years, and you have bought those lies so thoroughly that they have become part of your belief system.

And now when someone, i.e. me, illustrates to you how you have been lied to by them, your pride an vanity does not allow you to admit this, but rather it prompts you to attack me for telling you the truth.

Elements of our government have figured out this characteristic of human psychology long ago, and they have use it to their benefit masterfully.

You have been played like a fool, because you are a fool, and you will continue to be played like a fool as long as you choose to remain a fool.

I’m not playing this game anymore.

You can either take the blue pill or the red pill. I expect that you will take the blue pill along with most others. I have opted for the red pill.

Truth is the only thing that matters.

I will be voting the GOP out of existence every chance I get.

See you at the fall.

Change what? Control of the Senate means very little with Obama in the WH. He will veto everything he doesn't want and will continue to rule by Executive Order. And unless the GOP were to use the nuclear option for legislation, the Dems can block whatever comes up in the Senate.

VOTING FOR THE GOP TO DEFEAT THE DEMOCRATSZ, AND being UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL....LEARN THAT!

Tell that to Boehner and the 18 Reps who helped pass a clean debt ceiling.
