You forget that the cost of medical care is very tightly linked with what the government will pay for a particular procedure, not supply and demand or market forces.

Get rid of the government's intrusion, and the prices would drop.
Insurance provided by my employer is an employment perk. It's between me and my employer and no one else.

Some people just don’t understand what is really going on. I have often told people that I cannot understand why they keep on looking to the government to solve a problem the government created in the first place. It is like expecting the guy who just pulled a gun on you and took all your money to offer to take you to dinner.
