Danica Patrick doesn’t drive her Lamborghini because of lack of cup holders and trunk space

It doesn’t surprise me that NASCAR driver Danica Patrick has a Lamborghini in her possession. What does surprise me is a recent article stating that she doesn’t really like to drive it anymore. Patrick bought the car back in 2007 and while she enjoyed the vehicle back then, she changed her tune as Danica found the car to be impractical: “I got it originally because I had a 645 BMW and it was a convertible,” she said. “It was the first car I ever bought because I had always gotten cars through teams or deals.” “I just needed something more practical,” Patrick said. “It sounds stupid but there are no cup holders in my Lamborghini. The last straw for the car ended up being in 2009, when Patrick went to pick her sister, Brooke from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and had some issues with her luggage: “The last straw was probably having to pick up my sister at the airport in a Lamborghini,” Patrick said. “I couldn’t have felt more stupid. I’m serious. I felt so stupid. “She’s got bags. I don’t have a trunk. I’ve got a briefcase-sized spot in the front of the car. I have no space.”“It just didn’t work very well,” Patrick said

I have not really kept up with stock car racing since Chrysler introduced the 426 Hemi.

I know they are never going to be really stock but I wish they would go back to mostly stock cars instead of what passes for them now. I know they look like regular cars but have nothing in common with real cars that we buy.

I follow IndyCar as well. Several years ago when Danica was first getting started in open wheel, she was involved in an accident with another driver. They both ended up in the ambulance together. While the other driver still had his helmet on. Danica gave him a whack on the head. The other driver complained to the IRL that he had been assaulted. When Danica was asked about it on TV, she said; “So his story is he got beat up by a girl?” Never heard another word about the “assault.”

Another funny - AJ Foyt’s driver was passed on track at speed by Danica. AJ on the radio: “You just got passed by a girl.”

She’s handled things pretty well. She used to be a tad too feisty and pouty, but got that behind her. Tony Stewart is a good owner for her. Be interesting to see how she handles Kurt Busch and Harvick as teammates. See if they are as helpful as Dale Jr. and Tony pushing her to the front in Daytona.

I liked Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s statement about it. No need for Danica to respond with a statement. Just go win. Of course, there is no chance but its still the right position. She has to learn how to drive 500 miles without spinning one of those cars out first.
