Because he shot the deputy, but he did not shoot the sheriff?
Ya, mon, I tink you be on to sumting. Dat be usin’ dee ole gray mattuh. ;-)
Peace Officers? ... paging Mr. Orwell
-——are responsible-——
There is another, more likely reason. That is sheer bravado.
Deputy Sheriffs are frequently killed by gunshot when they fail to follow defensive measures when boldly assaulting a suspect in a building. It happens a lot. They get fantastic funerals attended by fellow officers from all over.
The same is true for Deputy auto deaths. The bravado of the trip to the radio call overcomes good driving sense.
They get the same fantastic funeral
Frequently? I hardly 49 cop deaths a year from gunshots in nation as large as ours, frequently.
Perhaps frequently was a bad choice or words. “as a percentage of incidents” was intended
They can't, it's Brown-shirt storm-trouper training for future roundups of guns, food, & people in non-compliance to the goverment for the FEMA camps...
A key phrase:
“However, the Burleson County Sheriffs Office would not have been there that day if Mr. Magee had not decided to live a lifestyle of doing and producing illegal drugs in his home.”
Not true.
The Burleson County Sheriffs Office would not have been there that day if an anonymous informant had not accused Mr. Magee of a crime, supported with no evidence other than the word of an anonymous man.
In such a case, if Mr. Magee was entirely innocent, he could neither have faced his accuser in court, nor could his accuser been cross-examined by Mr. Magee’s attorney.
And finally, even if the accusation was entirely contrived by someone who hated Mr. Magee, Magee has no recourse against the anonymous informer available to him, neither criminal sanctions nor civil litigation.
As is the suspicion that many “anonymous informers” are just contrived by police officers playing a hunch, or who themselves have a grudge against a victim.
I did not understand why judges issue no knock warrant based on an informant's word...no actual evidence, no crime observed...
A regular warrant as in a walk up to the door declare yourself as law enforcement and show the legal warrant...
If the homeowner refuses ...sent in the swat...
If they did, Burleson County Sheriff's Deputy Adam Sowders would be home safe polishing his boots and badge..
This same thing happened in Topeka Kansas in the mid 90s. Topeka police department swat team served a no knock warrant one of the policeman got shot. The police swore up-and-down that they screamed the words “search warrant”. However eyewitnesses on both sides of the target house testified otherwise. The house across the street had a firefighter who came home late and witnessed the raid. He testified that they immediately went in and never heard the words “search warrant” shouted. The thin blue line of lies crumbled. No drugs or guns were found. The man walked. He had to move because of all the harassment afterwards.
Most likely the other cops were looking for a dog to kill.
