Attorney General Eric Holder announced Saturday that the Justice Department will now follow a landmark Supreme Court ruling on same-sex spouses, which means they will no longer be compelled to testify against each other in civil and criminal cases.
The policy changes mean same-sex spouses also should be eligible to file jointly for bankruptcy and have the same rights and privileges in federal prison as inmates in heterosexual marriages.
Prosecutors have used various legal challenges against the spousal privilege. But Holder made clear the federal government will no longer make such challenges, even in states where same-sex marriages are not recognized.

All this personally decreed law just gets undone in the next administration. Holder is the key to Obama. The law can uphold or destroy morality.
Hey it's Party Time! Any body with even a modicum of respect for the law would have chosen a serious venue for a pronouncement overturning centuries of bedrock civil morality. But why not mix in a little fun and fundraising while you stick it in the eye of sincere fellow citizens who oppose your politically driven agenda?
Wrong. Once persons have rights, it's much, much harder to take them away legally. For example, bankruptcy proceedings. How would a future administration walk back recognition of same sex partners in a bankruptcy proceeding?
Yes, I’m waiting for the 10th Amendment / States Rights / Nullification crowd to come running... Which state GOVERNOR is going to fight this? Answer... NONE!
Washington is broken and simply voting won’t be enough...

Doesn’t this only involve the federal government dealings with marriage?
Hey, way to go Tony Kennedy. Sleep well, SCOTUS...you’ve enabled the worst AG in American history to contribute to the continued degeneration of civilized Judeo-Christian culture.
In all 57 states
well a Constitutional Convention will not change anything (best case) or it will make matters worse (likely). You think liberals that elected Obama are going to allow conservative changes to the Constitution?
One of the lamest ideas to float around in a while. Right up there with 10-10-10 LOL
Ignorance must be bliss...
It’s not a constitutional convention... I see you didn’t bother to go to the link and educate yourself...
Congratulations on living in bliss...
I’m sure you are full of useful ideas...
utter lawlessness.
Yeah I know about the site and have read through it. convention of states. The Constitution that is being ignored by liberals now would be “fixed” via amendments ... and the liberals that voted in Obama will just let this happen. Yeah right. It is really stupid idea by people who haven’t a clue what we are up against. No personal offense intended
Federalism?
The Obama Regime has replaced Governors with Party Secretaries, a la the USSR, the PRC, DPRK, etc.

I have an idea what I might do if I was in an organized criminal gang.
“...and have the same rights and privileges in federal prison as inmates in heterosexual marriages.”
Luckily the federal penal system has no problem with gangs; the system might be taken advantage of otherwise. Somehow.
