I read his bio. When he was stationed in the Democratic south in the late '50's/early '60's - he developed a disdain for whites in general. He's never gotten over it. And - he's never ascribed this to the plantation party - the democRats.

What a shame - he's otherwise a pretty solid person. I think the Allen West generation sees this very clearly.

The old coot, (he’s 76 and will be 77 in April) was interviewed by that horrid Andrea Mitchell on PMSNBC, so what do we expect?

Of course he’s going to rant bitterly and with some venom, too! He wants attention!

“I will repeat that now,” he responded. “There are certain elements in the party that seem to go out of their way to demonize people who don’t look like the way they’d like them to look like, or who came from some other place.

Who is the one voting on the basis of race. Lets see, Powell says he voted for Ford, Reagan twice, GHW Bush twice, Dole, and GW Bush twice. But all of a sudden in 2012, with his good buddy McCain running, he votes for Obama. He says for his economic program. As quoted from the great book, Ball Four, “Yea Sure.” The economy stinks for the entire four years of Obama’s first term, he votes for him again. Something is not adding up. Maybe the truth is that Powell is the one voting strictly on race. He voted for Obama because he is black like him, nothing more, nothing less.
