NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Yellow, murky tap water. Warnings about what a toilet can and cant handle. Missing floors, door handles and light bulbs.
The complaints have been flooding in and going viral on social media as media members get settled for the Winter Olympics in Sochi. But just as quickly theres backlash forming from people who say journalists need to stop grumbling about their accommodations in Russia and start focusing on covering the games.
One columnist in the Toronto Star even accused reporters from around the globe of turning into Ugly Americans when venturing beyond their comfort zone.

You betcha!
(How’s the weather up there in God’s Country?)
Yep its gay payback time. Gays and their fellow travelers
Now here’s the big question. Will any so called ‘conservative’ with a microphone or a print column risk his job by pointing that out and not letting up?
I will have respect for any that put their all on the line to point out the painfully obvious. Because you know that “Hater!” and “HOMOPHOBE!” will be the reaction.
Funny, we have been discussing this for a while on FR already.

EQAndyBuzz said it best:
Dear MSM,
What you are experiencing at Sochi in regards to the accommodations are glitches.
What Americans are experiencing in regards to their health care are major life events.
Understand the difference?
Now suck it up buttercup, you have games to report on. And be thankful that the games arent being held in Mogadishu.
Regards
Buzz
CBS New York just now is clueing into this??
In America, we watch the Olympics. In Russia, the Olympics watch you. /yakov smirnov
The Torstar columnist is a retard. Third World countries far poorer than Russia have clean water at their hotel rooms. Sochi is simply not ready for prime-time. It’s not too much to ask that the Olympics should be held at a venue that has minimally adequate facilities, never mind First World ones. The way this venue has turned out, maybe the next Summer Olympics ought to be held in Mogadishu. Putin is a piss-poor leader whose signature accomplishment has been territorial muscle-flexing and anti-gay-marriage symbolism. Real boob bait for Ivan stuff - a veritable tsunami of noise signifying nothing. Wake me up when he reconstitutes the Russian empire.
“Paying back Putin for their gay buddies. Nothing more to this than that.”
Most of what people read from the propaganda fascist media is regurgitated press releases from the Nazi Soros. When we did contract work for Israeli companies back in 2011, we were constantly dealing with paid Soros organizations and their useful idiots. The Soros PR firms would spit out utter nonsense, lies and disinformation that would be picked up by the leftist press and presented as “news.”
Couldn’t have happened to a lamer twit! Costas is on the top of my list of sportscasters that I always mute.
I’ve been to the Soviet Union once, and the Russian Federation several times. Americans, typically from wealthy backgrounds, whined the most about conditions. Those conditions were most similar to those found on US military bases in the 1950s, although not as well maintained or freshly painted.
In short, it is primitive compared to, say, Houston. It is better than much of Detroit.
One of a few of your posts I can agree with. Props!
Beirut, Lebanon is better than much of Deetroit.
The hatred of Russia and Russians is based on Putin's anti-gay stance when it comes to propagandizing to children.
I’m afraid I just don’t see efficient plumbing as a luxury. Russia has plenty of natural resources and plenty of smart brains. So they ought to have flush toilets by now. The technology has been around for what, 150 years?
>>Most residents of Sochi likely dont even HAVE indoor plumbing.<<
Well, why the hell not? I thought Russia was a modern nation now.
you owe me a new monitor and keyboard
I bet Brazil will have even more problems, but they’re “gay friendly”, so you won’t hear about them.
Go a few miles inland from Rio De Janiero, and it might as well be an African city.
This experience will take them just a little bit closer to understanding what a truly means to be a “journalist”.
