Politics was at the forefront of Republicans senators minds at their annual retreat on Wednesday. Theres growing optimism among GOP lawmakers that their odds of becoming the majority party are on the rise.
GOP strategists have been touting the partys chances of picking up the six seats they need to take back the Senate for months. Senate Republicans note their position looked much worse only a few months ago in the midst of the government shutdown, when the partys approval rating dropped to a record low.
But hearing Wednesday from Stuart Rothenberg, editor of The Rothenberg Political Report and a respected handicapper, that they are slightly favored to win control of the upper chamber boosted their confidence.
Rothenberg's prediction echoed his newsletters public take that GOP pickups this fall will range between four and seven seats, and gave Republicans a better than even chance of winning control.

I don’t understand why they see a groundswell against liberal politicians as a groundswell of support for THEM (as a whole)...
That's what I'm saying. If the RINO backstabbers think they're going to win without constitutional conservatives, they'll have a lot of incentive to invest in fellow backstabbers. They'll have people pose as conservatives, then betray us before they even unpack their bags in DC....Flake, Ayotte,.... They'll keep wasting our time with propping up Jeb Bush, Ryan, and others. They'll pull tricks like giving Christie more money than he needed to win at the expense of that VA gov candidate.
The RINOs think we're the real enemy. We have to have the same attitude toward them.
