Obama and the rest of them DO have contingency plans.
Since they took over they have been intentionally weakening our country in every way they can. They have been setting the table for either a terrorist attack or another financial crisis or both in order to “not waste the crisis”.
Remember after 9/11, the dimrats and their media were all in a tizzy because Klintoon wasn’t president when it happened. That was a screwy idea, but it makes sense. Had the dims been in charge then, there is no telling what they would have done to us. The Obama gang is much more vindictive and devious than the Klintoons ever thought about being.
So here we are. Like living under the sword of Damocles.

But do they have health insurance?
That’s all that’s important

“Having so many men out of work is partly a symptom of a U.S. economy slow to recover from the worst recession in 75 years.”

Can we all just drop the term “recession” and call this the Bush-Obama Depression? The economic stats have been massaged all out of shape to suggest that there has been a recovery when there hasn’t.

“The trend has been building for decades, according to government data. In the early 1970s, just 6% of American men ages 25 to 54 were without jobs. By late 2007, it was 13%. In 2009, during the worst of the recession, nearly 20% didn’t have jobs.”

It seems reasonable to conclude that the unemployment is skewed heavily toward the tails of that distribution curve (youngest & oldest). The youngest because they lack skills & experience; the eldest because of the “cost of employment”.

More than one in six men ages 25 to 54, prime working years, don't have jobs—

A staggering statistic!

More than one in six men ages 25 to 54, prime working years, don't have jobs—a total of 10.4 million.

Funny what they consider prime, at 57 I still consider myself in my prime working years, sadly employers think I'm too damn old and too damn White. No one is stupid enough to outright say those words but the unspoken has been clear enough from their comments and questions.

Now the statistics are falsified to keep the unemployment rate down and the MSM dutifully reports the artificially low number the government publishes.

I hope that when the new conservative president is elected in 2016 that one of her first acts is to change how unemployment is reported, to reflect real numbers.

If she does it right away, it will show what phonies this liberal administration really is.

And you also likely have ten times the experience and wisdom of the new 30 somethings they are so hell bent on hiring to replace you, so they can save a buck. Then they wonder why their companies start going downhill and everything is a total disaster.

“Many are still living in their mama’s basement.”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Not many in my area but that is only because conditions around here are very bad for building basements, very few homes have them, but we have plenty of children in their thirties and even forties. There are very few adults who are under thirty.

You are correct.
The entitlement army is a fun party zone right now.
It wins elections for Dems.

But when the markets start puking on the 40% fake money, look out folks!

Exactly - the headline is dead wrong!

It should say “more men now enjoying the freedom from having to work for a living”.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Well you could list Shep Smith and Anderson Cooper...oh, wait, you did say “straight white male” earlier didn’t you?

When was the last time you saw a white male in the anchor chair for local/national news

Too often, unfortunately

Brian Williams (NBC)

Scott Pelley (CBS)

Wulf Blister (CNN)

I too am over 50. We might take longer to do things but that is only because we have 50+ years of memories to sort through. It is only after 70 that the slow decline actually starts and many over 80’s people have made astounding discoveries in their fields. Don’t let them tell you otherwise.

"Our culture is one that venerates work, that views work as good for its own sake,"

It does? Where is *that* reflected in the media anymore? When I was growing up, an able-bodied man who was out of work very long was considered a ne'er-do-well, a lazy bum. Now, the Left celebrates the "homeless" and men who can't find jobs often just figure out how to get on disability.

Black females have the best chance for employment. Primarily in HR departments and government jobs. O-snap!

I had to look for work after getting laid off at age 53. Took three years to get back to a position close to where I was and I blew through my severance and most of my retirement funds trying to stay afloat. I may be “underemployed” of what I am truly capable of but feel blessed by God to have survived the worst of it.

They get on Social Security Disability and 'retire' for the rest of their lives... As they say, 'best to go mental' it's harder to disprove.
