Thank you so very much for sharing your insights, dear brother in Christ!

I very much look forward to your graphic presentation/video on science just now catching up with the truths revealed in Genesis.

Indeed, I very strongly agree with Jewish Physicist Gerald Schroeder that - when we consider inflationary theory (relativity) and the big bang - it is readily apparent that approximately 15 billion years from our space/time coordinates is equal to approximately an equivalent week from the inception space/time coordinates.

The structure of space/time is such that while a week elapses in the vicinity of a black hole, forty years may elapse on earth.

And so on...

A Formerly Proud Canadian, you offered a challenge a little further down in this sidebar. I'd like to respond. You said:

Please, show me elsewhere in the Bible where the Hebrew 'yom' (day) means an indefinitely longer length of time, such as you propose in Genesis 1. Also where, in your point of view, does yom revert back to meaning approximately 24 hours instead of an indefinitely longer length of time?

On the first challenge, God warned to Adam was that he would surely die in the day he ate of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil:

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. – Genesis 2:17

And so he did though Adam lived 932 years on earth:

And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. – Genesis 5:5

That is not some vague reference but is explicitly revealed here:

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day [is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. – 2 Peter 3:8

That is also the Jewish interpretation (Sanhedrin 97a; Avodah Zarah Sa) of Psalms 90:4:

For a thousand years in thy sight [are but] as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.

On the second challenge - looking at Creation Week as Prophecy (7 days or 7,000 years appointed to Adamic man) and Christ's millennial reign in Revelation as the Sabbath in the prophecy - I aver that Adam's clock (our space/time calendar) begins at the moment Adam was banished to mortality - the top of Genesis 4. The perspective of Scripture changes from God the Creator as observer to Adamic man as observer.

In broad support of that point, I'd point out that the Tree of Life - which is in the center of the Garden of Eden - is also in the center of Paradise:

And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. – Genesis 2:9

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. – Revelation 2:7

Obviously this is one of my favorite subjects so I'd better stop before I get carried away.

Thank you all for sharing your insights and for keeping me in the loop!

I cannot agree with you on OEC as there are too many changes in the meaning of day (yom). You interpret Creation differently than I. I am not prepared to debate it, however, at least not in a public forum. From what I know of the Bible, this does not affect Salvation, so debating it is not productive, especially in regards to evangelising. To the non-Believer, we are most certainly not ‘set apart’ when we are debating.

The Holy Spirit showed me that by spending time debating such non-essentials as OEC versus YEC, we waste our time instead of spending it worshiping our Creator or evangelising. If we are not reflecting Jesus, how can we be a light in this dark world? The Adversary has already led me to waste too much of my time in this useless debate. When we meet Him face to face, we can find out, though at that time, I doubt that we will really care if it was a YE or an OE.

May the Lord give you the words to share with others that will reflect His light!
