Boehner on the brink: Speakership coup brewing over immigration

Rep. Raul Labrador said House Speaker John Boehner should lose his leadership post if he pushes forward with immigration reform this year, CQ Roll Call reported.

“I think it should cost him his speakership,” Mr. Labrador, Idaho Republican, said in an interview with the Capitol Hill news organization.

Mr. Labrador also refused to rule out running to replace Mr. Boehner — even if the Ohio Republican put the brakes on immigration bills.

“There is a hunger in the conference for bold, visionary leaders, and this is not just conservatives — you talk to more middle-of-the-road members of the conference, they’re kind of frustrated with the direction of this leadership, and they’re looking for ways to change that,” he told CQ Roll Call.

Mr. Boehner said Tuesday that he is not sure whether he will pursue immigration bills this year, days after House leaders outlined their principles at an annual GOP retreat that included border security and legalization for most illegal immigrants. The plan also included a specific new pathway for younger illegal immigration

I don't know how it will play out but the second man on the list doesn't necessarily accede to the speakership....if the sitting speaker is forced out it usually means a shift in direction!!

Gowdy is a closet amnesty pimp. He is not what he seems. He talks a great game but the conservative substance is not there wheather it be the IRS or immigration issues

“Gowdy would be great! If not him, then Gohmert from TX - - I think he’s great, too!”

Gohmert has my vote

For over a decade, the GOP has put more effort behind amnesty than any other issue. The leadership should lose their jobs.

“Stand down Boehner. And for the GOP, replace him, whether he does or does not”

I believe John Boehner has disqualified himself Constitutionally as Speaker as he is thrid in line as President.

His own words should render him unfit

I know how it works enough to know they vote on speakers. The dems will vote for pelosi. Someone has to not only run for speaker but consolidate support away from boehner and get more votes than pelosi. Not sure who is running against Boehner. Until that happens nothing changes

Most of the time I lurk. It depends on the job. Most employers don't like me screwing around on the job. Those damn, rich, greedy bastards! LOL!
