Rep. Raul Labrador said House Speaker John Boehner should lose his leadership post if he pushes forward with immigration reform this year, CQ Roll Call reported.
I think it should cost him his speakership, Mr. Labrador, Idaho Republican, said in an interview with the Capitol Hill news organization.
Mr. Labrador also refused to rule out running to replace Mr. Boehner even if the Ohio Republican put the brakes on immigration bills.
There is a hunger in the conference for bold, visionary leaders, and this is not just conservatives you talk to more middle-of-the-road members of the conference, theyre kind of frustrated with the direction of this leadership, and theyre looking for ways to change that, he told CQ Roll Call.
Mr. Boehner said Tuesday that he is not sure whether he will pursue immigration bills this year, days after House leaders outlined their principles at an annual GOP retreat that included border security and legalization for most illegal immigrants. The plan also included a specific new pathway for younger illegal immigration

At this point, it appears Boehner did not realize what he had done and is simply pursuing it because he is trying to save face.
Same attitude Obama has with telling lies - he will never admit wrongdoing or backtrack.
Boehner is wealthy, and has to financial worries. He’s at the tail end of his career. Boehner is doing what his financial masters have told him to do. Boehner will prosper no matter how this all turns out.
I sure hope so.
Not "might", or "could" or "perhaps"..
But I sure don't want Cantor taking over either..
This is not an act of hot-headedness. This has been brewing. It appears Boehner is callously stepping all over his members and has no apparent regard for their opinion when it comes to immigration. So, if it takes removing him from the Speakership, then so be it.
It is time to act with boldness. The time for incremental behavior is over. There is too much at stake!
I agree 100%.
This is perhaps the solution to several problems.
This would avoid the GOP breaking into smaller competing factions in the run-up to the next election.
Boehner is obviously strongly for more illegal immigration.
That is not consistent with a leadership role.
Stand down Boehner. And for the GOP, replace him, whether he does or does not.
Call your congressman and demand that the Republican caucus give a vote of no confidence to Boehner.
See, this is the problem. The stinky smell of the Rhinoceros permeates through Capitol Hill in senior leadership positions. They have to be defeated. And that's not easy to do.
The strategy of the amnesty pimps seems to be let Boehner take the heat while Ryan and others (Gowdy, etc.) get a stab conservatives in the back deal done in the background.
Boner already gave up the gavel to Pelosi once. He shouldn't had a chance to do it again.
They need to get those damn GOP amnesty ads off TV!!
They are losing votes every time that ad airs.
But who will run against him? Cantor? I don’t see anything really changing.
That must have been one helluva GOP Summit they held last week.
That’s why they trotted Tom Daschle around the Hill in January ‘09 in his Rolex watch and Armani suit.
To send the message that “Life can be REALLY GOOD for you if you play ball. Even if you lose your re-election bid.”
"two-thirds of the House rank-and-file is opposed to what the leadership in the House is trying to push"....Rush
Tweet Trey Gowdy and tell him to take his job.
This coup will be a heady brew when finally drunk - it's been brewing for so long it must be really strong stuff. On the other hand, with all those RINOs, I cannot see it actually happening.

You act as if the GOP leadership thinks losing votes is a bad thing it works to their masters advantage.
Gowdy would be great! If not him, then Gohmert from TX - - I think he’s great, too!
