I don't believe any of the numbers these clowns put out. They are about as reliable as obama’s job creation numbers. Is a .9 degree difference really that big of a deal? I'm sure the temperature takers could move the average temp by .9 degrees in either direction if they wanted to. Will they tell us if this year turns out to be tied for the sixth coldest in history?

since reliable records began in 1850,
Those records arent reliable at all.
The readings probably were fairly reliable and errors would average out.
However I believe all of the older, hand-written numbers are mainly lost after they were entered into punch cards and saved in computers. IIRC the East Anglia CRU folks admitted this.
Since then all of the AGW modeling groups have massaged the data to correct for various errors, such as urban heat islands, and guess what? Every correction made the earth hotter...:^)
Also, again IIRC, NOAA won't even tell people what correction formulae they applied.
I don't think anyone knows what the actual old readings were any more.
