The Congressional Budget Office estimated on Tuesday that the Affordable Care Act will reduce the number of full-time workers by 2.5 million over the next decade. That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as devastating and stark evidence of President Obamas health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing.
The report estimated that thanks to an increase in insurance coverage under the act and the availability of subsidies to help pay the premiums many workers who felt obliged to stay in a job that provided health benefits would now be able to leave those jobs or choose to work fewer hours than they otherwise would have. In other words, the report is about the choices workers can make when they are no longer tethered to an employer because of health benefits. The cumulative effect on the labor supply is the equivalent of 2.5 million fewer full-time workers by 2024.
Some workers may have had a pre-existing condition and will now be able to leave work because insurers must accept all applicants without regard to health status and charge premiums unrelated to health status. Some may have felt they needed to keep working to pay for health insurance, but now new government subsidies will help pay premiums, making it more possible for them to leave their jobs.

“You havent been laid off, you’ve been economically incentivized! See how nice?”
Good grief.
They were working to have insurance.
Okay, that’s believable. I can believe a lot of people were working so they would have insurance.
Now they will not be working. So how will they pay for their insurance?
They were either paying it for themselves in full with the money they were making, or their employer was paying for their insurance, or a good part of it.
If they quit working, where do the insurance payments come from?
The Slimes makes this massive job loss seem like a perpetual paid vacation for those having won the ObamaCare lottery. Let’s hope that in the near future, everyone who works at that state-run propaganda outlet will have the luxury of being unemployed.
RE: Now they will not be working. So how will they pay for their insurance?
OBAMAO-CARE of course.
Everyone gets to stay home and spend more time with their EBT card and write poetry. I love this country!
Well, if 2.5 million fewer workewrs is a good thing, then TEN, TWENTY million fewer would be, well..just AWESOME
Huh?
So now we’re not supposed to want American jobs?
BRING BACK AMERICAN JOBS.
(you too, Republicans)
How nice! Nazi Pelosi has emancipated so many from a source of income. Now they can no longer afford a roof over their heads or food or clothing, but by golly they only need to pay $500 a month for insurance with a 10K deductible with the promise that they'll get a subsidy when then go to file their income tax return on their, um... non-existent income.
Good quote. My favorite is:
“Think of an economy where people could be an artist or a photographer or a writer without worrying about keeping their day job in order to have health insurance.”

I thought with all our debt burden we’d be turning Japanese. But it looks like their goal is to destroy the American work ethic and create Denmark.
Quit your job and get all kinds of free s###, including insurance.
Fundamental transformation means that unemployment equals liberty. Pray for America.
The low cost insurance under Obamacare is almost certainly crap compared to what they had before. Any of the regular plans have a big deductible.
Where will they get the deductible money? (A popular question these days!)
Unless the 2M+ are going on medicaid? Which would be big news itself.
What could possibly go wrong?
For all the Democratic wailing about “inequity”, their policies have done more to enable it than anything else. But it is apparent that is what “The Plan” always was: Get as many people on the dole as possible (50%, 60%, even 75%). But then, instead of having them slip into indifference, stoke class envy to make sure they vote—Democratic, of course. And if that isn’t enough, import more clients.
“...and a job killer. It is no such thing.”
Also, we have ALWAYS been at war with Eastasia.
Your insurance was lousy, so it was good that it was canceled.
Your job is lousy, so it’s good that it’s going to be canceled.

Reading the comments of the drones is the truly enlightening aspect of the article. They talk aboput how they can now quit their jobs they only worked in order to maintain health insurance.
How do these people pay their bills?
