WOODLAND PARK - Ken Buck is watching what he says.

The Republican prosecutor became a symbol for his party's political overreach in 2010, when he beat the establishment pick in a U.S. Senate primary, only to lose to Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet.

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Ken Buck is watching what he says

All well and good, but when queried about his past statements, is he going to reinforce them or claim he's "evolved" to more "moderate" stances?

All Buck will have to do to win is to hammer on Obamacare and Udall’s support for Obama.

I have no idea. This race is going to be crazy. Udall is a lot weaker than many anticipated him being. He was embroiled in an intimidation scandal in Colorado, his son was taking heroin, and people dislike him because of Obamacare.

Buck was running a mere 3 points behind in the last poll (other challengers all fared worse)

The question is, could that be Buck’s ceiling? Is he really going to bring anyone round to him who’s not there already? Everyone is familiar with him.

It would appear Buck is going to win the primary very convincingly. Whether he defeats Udall or not will have a lot to do with voter turnout.

I can't tell you honestly that we can walk in and fire 8,000 employees.

Why not? Private companies do it. They have to.
Are we having a DEA just to keep these people with a paycheck?
They have failed completely in improving education in the USA. The whole department should be closed down.
We have to get away form the notion that government can't fire anyone or we will never get out of the financial hole we're in.

ken buck is one of the few solid conservatives out there, nationally. i’m praying that we get him and tancredo in this year. they will of course—as in years past—get my unstinting support again this year.

“Buck was running a mere 3 points behind in the last poll “

That likely has to do with name recognition. I am not from colorado but I would not take anaother chance on him. When you blow a golden oppurtunity once you should step down and not get in the way next time. Ken Buck is a good man but his time is passed.

The cancer issue could come back and haunt him. An extraordinary amount of stress could bring the cancer back. I speak from the POV of a husband whose wife is a survivor and was there when one of the greatest oncologists in the nation (with whom my wife went to school as a child) told her to take it easy on being in high stress situations... forever. She is a teacher like me. She retired from the public schools and went to work at a Charter School (before the cancer) and I thank God for that, because they loved her so much they were able to help her through the illness by giving her time off and giving her top level health insurance. She is still in a stressful job but it's nothing like I have to cope with still being in the 4th largest public school district in the nation. But if folks start raising the political viability based on a potential disease recurrence, it could bite him. He wouldn't be the first to succumb to that potential health issue.

Oh,Lord, anyone but Buck! That man is an idiot. He snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by constantly sticking BOTH size 12 cowboy boots in his mouth. The Buck mouth-boot connection was magnetic: as soon as someone would yank the boots out, why they’d fly right back into his mouth like neither were attached to his brain, the mouth of course DEFINITELY NOT being attached to his brain.

The fool would NOT stay on message (assuming he even knew what that meant). Instead of giving five or six pat answers to every question no matter what the question like Scott Brown did in Massachusetts, Buck thought he was smart enough to play the reporter’s gottcha game and got clobbered, because guess what, Buck ain’t all that smart.

I gave the guy a $1000.00 because it was such a sure win. But he blew it. SURELY the GOP can come up with a better person than Buck to beat Udall.

“When you blow a golden opportunity once you should step down and not get in the way next time.”

It is extremely lucky that President Ronald Reagan did not have your attitude. If that were the case he would never have been elected. He ran for the republicans nomination and did not win that nomination until his third try.

The GOP should give away Free Pot on Election Day, thus insuring
the Potheads will enjoy their smoke and not show up at the polls.

Nice point.
Maybe Buck CAN learn from his mistakes.

Dems may not be pushovers in November but they will sure as heck be easier to beat with pure-dem nobamacare hung around their necks.

Reagan did not lose to an appointed, unpopular RAT lightweight in a Republican wave election where the RATs were blown out in most other states.

I caught him on Meet The Press and the guy is an idiot. He got asked something like, “what do you want to do with your life?” and his answer was to play more golf. Bennett said something sincere and earnest sounding like improve humanity.

Maybe Buck was making a joke but that was not the time or place.

Didn’t work for him in 2010.

Buck was a terrible candidate for statewide office in 2010—he probably would have coasted to victory in his congressional district (where the Democrat incumbent was a dead woman walking), but he insisted on running for the Senate and pulled defeat from the jaws of victory (Jane Norton would have won by like 5%-8%). I hope that he’s improved as a candidate and won’t lose another winnable Senate race for us; the primary field is so underwhelming right now that Buck might win the nomination despite most CO Republicans having reservations about him.

Ronald Reagan never blew a general election that was in the bag; but had he somehow managed to lose to Jimmy Freaking Carter in 1980 ... yeah, maybe he should have thought twice before running again.

(As for President Reagan winning in his “third try,” come on now! His name was floated as a dark-horse candidate in the 1968 RNC, but he didn’t run in primaries or anything; the first time he actually *ran* for president was in 1976 against Ford.)

Wow! I wonder who ‘floated’ his name?
