There's good reason for Jim keeping Free Republic fiercely independent and self reliant. We needn't look any farther than our Canadian neighbor and sister site, FREE DOMINION , which was shut down after a libel ruling! Don't think for a minute that Free Republic isn't in the cross hairs of the current regime's over lords, so perish the thought that Free Republic will ever want to entertain the likes, needs and wants of advertisers, corporate sponsors, sugar daddies or political parties. We're not beholden to any outsiders and plan to keep it this way, with your help!

I know money is tight. I know the Marxist's economy sux, and I think it's getting worse, not better. DrO and I live on a fixed income, so we have to make every dollar count. Bryan took Lucas Prince of Darkness to the vet this morning to have blood drawn for a liver/pancreas test.
The vet has ruled everything else out, so she is testing these last two organs to try to find out why he is sick.
He has been on quite a roller-coaster ride, getting better for a few days or a week, and then getting sick again.
When they left, there was so much ice on the driveway that the crackling from the weight of the car sounded
like an ice breaker in the Antarctic. I was stunned at how crispy the dang driveway was.
Good thing Bryan brought the paper in when he returned to drop Luke and the car off before leaving for work
in the truck. I probably wouldn’t have made it to the mailbox and back without falling on my tush.
Let us know about Lucas.

We will know the results of the tests by Friday or Saturday.
I don’t know why it takes that long, but Bryan and I are hoping and praying that whatever is ailing Luke is curable.

All our schools are closed because of ice and snow. We may have small mountains but they're still dangerous for school buses.
