Bump
I had occasion to watch The Time Machine on TMC last night.
The scene where the newly arrived time traveler was eating with the Eloi struck me.
He was trying to find out how this new world worked.
Who makes your clothing? shrug.
Where does the food come from? shrug.
Who plants the trees, prunes, harvests? blank look.
Doesnt anyone work? total puzzlement.
Only slightly less thoughtful responses than obamas stash...
Welfare recipients every one.
Get me a tiny violin.
IMO don’t give anyone except for the badly disabled permanent welfare or disability.
After a time make cash go away and force people to work; especially those who are poor and manage to spend all their time birthing babies by the half dozen on the dole.
But some welfare bovine gets 10 bucks shaved off their monthly EBT and it's national news.
This is what concerns me - the Fed is artificially propping up the stock market, and through welfare, companies. This is how a president-turned-dictator can get CEOs to do his bidding.
As an added bonus, with the sign of a pen, he can collapse the economy for fun.
Well, that’s a big “TS” now isn’t it!!! The largest retail company in the world can’t do well unless the Government’s tit is amply “full.” With the money that they are making, it’s the height of conceit to complain.
crony-capitalism
When corporate America has to rely upon government to prop up their business (and this economy in general) then you know we’re not headed in anywhere near the right direction!
The man with the pen will probably sign an EO reimbursing Wal-Mart for any losses.
No surprise here. Its also the real reason for corporate Americas all out push for amnesty.
First off, thank you for all you do and have done.
Secondly a little story. I had the occasion yesterday, Feb 1, to take my granddaughter over to spend time with my parents who are both in their eighties.
Dad wanted to treat everyone and took us out to a local restaurant, Big Boys. The parking lot was mobbed, so were the lots of all of the other restaurants as well as Wal-mart and such.
My mom asked the server how business was going and she gushed about how nice it was that they were so busy, it was like how it was years ago.
I was curious as to why she put it that way and mom just said. “It’s the first of the month, dear. They just got paid and they are out spending it all as fast as they can in case it might get taken away.”
Dad just nodded in agreement and said most of the time the parking lots only had one or two customers in them.
So think about it... In many places we have become reduced to a quasi-welfare economy. Reduce the dole and some cities and towns might crash and burn.
Are we supposed to believe that the welfare recipients are buying less groceries?
Crony capitalism at its best.
A lot are hurting because we don’t have food stamps and can’t eat as well as the people who do.
I call BS.
Food stamps in the past 5 years under Obama have risen over 60% in total handed out.
The ‘cut’ was only about 1%.
Do your own math.
The fools don't have enough common sense to look at their data and say "Hey Item number ########### isn't selling but a few days a month" then look at their inventory on hand for same period to see if it's an inventory issue. I bet their computer shows in stock. In contrast let's day an Ingles store the manager and a few key persons make sure items are there and plenty more in the storerooms. Sales mean profits. No inventory? No Sales.
Any say in the on hand inventory is out of the local managers hands. When Bentonville says ship onlt then is an item shipped to the store for stocking it seems. Every aspect of Walmart is managed in Bentonville. Store Managers know they can turn bigger sales and profits per store. But Bentonville says no.
Bentonville believes it is making more money rationing out products like denture adhesive, Glad Food Storage Containers, Potato chips, and paper towels, rather than selling them as many as possible. You can go into several Walmarts in a given area with a shopping list and every one will likely be sold out. The truck arrives next week though with a few more items. It is not the store Sam built nor how he built it. Using current inventory policies Sam would have went broke. They ran off competition and now believe customers are at their mercy I guess.
Well in my case I have been spending more of my food stamps at Aldi’s because of the good holiday sales. And the fact I had doctors appointments in that town where the store is located.
We have a grocery store, Super W-M, Dollar General, a food service outlet store and a discount grocery store.
A good chunk of the $189 goes to the grocery store for meat when on sale and a few other sale items. Otherwise it costs too much there and I despise the dirty old man that owns the store.
I mostly get gallons of water, jarred and canned items, and not much meat at W-M.
I pick up stuff occasionally at the other stores.
doh!!!!
