HOUSTON - Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX) today filed a libel lawsuit challenging numerous false statements made by a John Cornyn super PAC operating under the name "Texans for a Conservative Majority."
The Cornyn PAC claims Stockman had been "jailed more than once," was "charged with a felony" and "violated federal ethics laws," all of which are false statements.

The website even falsifies Stockman's voting record, falsely telling voters Stockman voted against a food stamp reform bill (2013 House Roll Call Vote 476) when Stockman, in fact, voted for it. The group continues to promote that statement online, even though they have been provided with the official Congressional Record showing it to be false.
The group is run by former Cornyn staffer Randy Cubriel and funded by a $2 million check from the late Robert Perry, a $185,000 donor to Cornyn and advocate for illegal alien amnesty. In TV station records for its ad buys, the group lists Karl Rove's Warrenton, Virginia address.
Stockman released the following statement.
"Today I have filed suit for libel in Houston's 344th District Court against the attack group that misleadingly calls itself 'Texans for a Conservative Majority.
"The operators of this big money PAC, who are supporters of John Cornyn, set it up for the sole purpose of a smear campaign all too familiar to American voters. Then, they hide behind the PAC they set up.
"This time, these Cornyn supporters have gone too far. And I'm sure that John Cornyn would agree.

"By law, Senator Cornyn cannot authorize nor coordinate his campaign activities with the PAC. I therefore call upon Senator Cornyn to publicly denounce the defamatory tactics of his supporters who are hiding behind Texans for a Conservative Majority.
"Voters are entitled to more from their elected officials than secretive smear-campaigners who operate PACs. It's time that men like John Cornyn join with me in condemning reckless and malicious defamation by misleadingly-named groups like Texans for a Conservative Majority."
I like this guy Stockman. I think I’ll send him a few more bucks—and hope other freepers will too ...
Alright! Give ‘em hell, Steve! Especially that squirrelly Rove.
well-done!
Good. Cornhole needs to go down.
Wanton and willful disregard for veracity. It’s a high bar to prove libel against a public figure, but in this case, Cornyn may have hurdled it.
“from the late Robert Perry, a $185,000 donor to Cornyn and advocate for illegal alien amnesty.”
Okay, this is poorly worded.
Is Perry an advocate for illegal alien amnesty or is Cornyn an advocate for illegal alien amnesty.
Hmm, appears that being around little barry basatrd boy’s lying regime has rubbed off on Cornyn & associates. Democrips and republicants, whatta bunch of vermin.
Figures Kommie Karl Rove would be behind this.
Stockman will beat Cornyn in a run off
Wonder when that noisy Stockman hater will pop in to tell us this is just a big passel of lies?
Why would he give the money to Cornyn and go to such lengths to defeat Stockman if Cornyn weren’t a vote for the invasion of the US?
This could get interesting....
WASHINGTON Tonight, Rep. Steve Stockman accused a group that supports Sen. John Cornyn
of lying about him, by asserting that he had been jailed more than once and was charged
with a felony.
That is strange, because Stockman has admitted to these facts, several times.
I may have been in jail a couple of times, two or three times, he told this newspaper.
As for the felony charge, that
stemmed from the time his girlfriend hid three Valium tablets in his underpants when
he was reporting for a weekend in jail. When they found that they charged me with a felony,
he told the Houston Chronicle.
Those interviews were back in 1995, during Stockmans first two-year stint in Congress.

bttt
Good, Cornyn needs to go, now.
I like this approach. Democrats are a target rich environment!
Would like to include MSNBC etal to the list of sorties to be flown
Ok, I have to know. 1) Why would Person A put 3 Valium's in Person B's underpants, 2) how did Person B not know about them and 3) how did the pills manage to stay in the underpants for an extended period of time without falling out? Hmm, maybe I don't need to know that last one.
Stockman is a very odd duck, but, heck, we one elected Pappy Lee ODaniel to the Senate.

For sure his quack is different.....
The major difference this time is that this is a statewide race and localizing becomes
negligible. He's got to get media attention. But at the same time the other candidates
aren't exactly household names either.
