Having worked for a neuropathologist at a world famous hospital I think I know a *tiny* bit about this.Brain injuries and the problems they can cause are a medical issue...not a political one of societal one as Rush claims.The head injuries that NFL players,NHL players,boxers,etc suffer either can or cannot cause serious,lasting problems down the line.Of course athletes aren't the only ones who suffer head injuries.Kids falling off bikes,folks falling in the shower and car accidents victims,among others,suffer them too.I'll bet that head injuries are a serious enough issue for society in general that the top medical minds in neurology,neurosurgery and neuropathology should vigorously focus on it both in hospitals,doctors’ offices and laboratories.They should use scanners,microscopes and the most powerful computers available to gather and analyze data and come up with conclusions.

It is what eventually killed Lou Gehrig. Someone looked back at Gehrig's career through newspaper accounts a found that he suffered a large number of beanings and other head injuries. Since he never took a game off, it lead to his early grave, since now we know that ALS and concussions have been linked.
