Express ^ | 31 January 2014 | Nathan Rao

Posted on 01/31/2014 11:05:29 PM PST by Errant

The entire country faces at least three days of torrential downpours, savage 150mph gales and weeks of relentless flood misery.

Storm Brigid is expected to first hit UK shores later this afternoon before the full force of the onslaught rips into the country tomorrow.

Experts say it threatens to cause destruction on a par with the ferocious October St Jude’s Day Storm and subsequent Storm Emily which hit in December.

150 mph winds across the country???

That can’t be true, at least not without major destruction. That’s just 7 mph shy of a category 5 hurricane wind speeds...

Yup. I figured that out.

Also, if you click on the word 'earth'...you can do temperatures and other things.

Neat. I bookmarked it.

Article says probably trouble with “power supplies”. People there do not store much food. They walk or drive to the nearest food store (they are not huge like ours are), and buy fresh food, then go back two days later and do it again and on and on like that. If water supply goes down, they don’t store that, either. There is going to be a lot of misery there and I hope not many deaths.

Wouldn’t doubt they’re not exaggerating some, but anything over 100MPH can create a lot of damage and sounds like they’ve already had a bunch of rain as the rivers and creeks are already flooded. This winter has really been colder, wetter, and winder than normal for the UK.

You guys finally digging out down there? I’ve still got a mound of ice/snow about three foot deep that collected from one of the roof valleys.

Think at the "high point" of the snow storm, I saw maybe 30 flakes in a cubic yard volume for about 2 or 3 minutes, LOL!!
Very small flakes at that, maybe 1/4 inch.

We did have a little freezing rain and sleet, maybe 1/10 to 2/10 of an inch.

Did get down to 18F, don't see that many times down here.
