Does Pat seriously blame corporations for doing their fiduciary duty and trying to avoid unionswhich not only cost more, but try to make jobs and job descriptions stand still when the marketplace never does? That's just nuts. I blame anyone who hasn't been fighting to get rid of Federal labor laws, which exempt unions from the laws the rest of have to followwhich are all unconstitutional. I blame Detroit unions and the politicians they bought for the death of the US auto industry because of competition from superior Japanese cars.
And now take a look at Wisconsin, Pat. Unions aren't in charge anymore, and the place is booming with American jobs. Get the idea?
I don’t think that’s his point at all, Scot. And I think he’s kinda tipping the reader off by including the Trumka quote. I’m reasonably sure he was criticizing the practice of offshoring on it’s own & citing unions as a primary motivator (& it being understandable, which it is).
I can’t think of any time when I’ve seen him support- or even acquiesce in any way, to a union.
Your fighting a ghost enemy, the last war, a boogeyman that died a long time ago. The Union stranglehold on MANUFACTURING died a long time ago. Only 10% ( and falling ) of the MANUFACTURING labor force is in a union and they have almost no clout due to R-T-W laws and small numbers. The off shoring that is done now is destroying our manufacturing base and non union jobs - Reagan Democrats.
