Boehner’s district is a safe Republican seat. It’s a 60-40 Repub district. Whoever wins the Republican primary will most likely win the general in November.
I don’t know what is being said elsewhere but everyone I talk to...Hispanics (citizens), Democrats, you name it in my area the response is “we need to take care of our people before we worry about other countries and their people” any conservative politicians need to use that to counter this. I think it is going to be crammed down our throats just like obamacare but I am not hearing ordinary people supporting this at all.
That’s the thing. I don’t know anyone who does, either. The Hispanics I know are dead set against this. And it’s not fair to those who have worked hard & are so proud of getting their citizenship legally (I know a Cuban family- son is now in the military, Marine, I think, & an older Chinese couple).
They don’t listen to us. At all. We need to throw their behinds out. Just about any Joe off the street could/ would do better than this.
Well said.
A lot of people (stateside) who grew up during the 50's, 60's and early 70's were born on third base, and think they hit a triple. Much of gnashing of teeth about the rich screwing the poor out of their rightful wages comes from the psychological denial of worldwide wage arbitrage and eventual parity. Unfortunately, while this denial is coursing through the nation's political culture, the GOP may take hits for a couple of decades, perhaps to the point that the nation goes full-out Chavez.
Many lack the realization that in many formerly very poor places, the people have aspirations to better themselves and have a better life. They are now able to do just that.
In China for instance they can wear Steelers T shirts and Daisey Mae’s
1 story told in the deep South is that many of the illegals found work in the construction trades in/around Atlanta when Atlanta was building to host the 1996 Summer Olympics.
BULLSEYE!
The amnesty bell, once rung, will toll the death of the Republican party and probably the Republic as well.
The time to draw a line in the sand has come. We The People must stand up to the government and demand accountability. We must insist that those entrusted with the reins of power either enforce the law, step aside or be removed. Most importantly, we must be prepared to take action beyond writing a stern letter or “Liking” a blog post.
Americans have done this before. Now it is our turn. We must not let the lame duck congress pass comprehensive amnesty if we are to have any hope for our children and grandchildren to enjoy the blessings of liberty we once took for granted.
Somehow, it still surprises me to hear about illegals in places like Georgia or up in New England. We sort of take it for granted here (in a grumbling way) because we’re so close to the border & have the whole “Holy Week” influx (shoppers) every year, anyway.
It worked in 2007. I held out hope when 0Care was passed- then again democrats in both houses, so sadly not surprised when they rammed that through. I’m honestly afraid that they won’t listen now no matter what we say.
It’s not hyperbole to say that these are truly perilous times for our country.
In 2014 dollars that would be more like the half million dollar question.
The answer is not pleasant to contemplate. Smaller government is the solution but we won't get it, I fear, unless we physically drag people out of their offices and change the locks.
Yes, I know what I am suggesting. Like I said, not pleasant. I wonder if the founding fathers would have signed the Declaration of Independence if they had had ESPN, the internet, 99 weeks of unemployment benefits and Obamacare.
If you hire them, they will come. Stop the hiring and you won’t need to close the border or whatever. Follow the money.
I'm afraid "We the People" can't agree on much of anything except we like a check in the mail.
Perot was secretly allied with B. Clinton.
Not sure if that was true but I’ve heard he had a real grudge against the Bush family from some Texas fued.
I can’t disagree with anything you said (although surely, our founders weren’t so vapid, shallow, & easily amused). I’d hope that it would be enough to show up with liquor store boxes, order them to clean out their desks, & we’ll escort them out, but speaking of easily amused... I’m sure they’d find that hysterical.
Go Hoosiers!
And then WE re-built the world!
But; that was what, 70 years ago!
EVERY manufacturing plant in the USA has been built and rebuilt since then.
Look around folks. We ain't in Kansas any more.
Money is like water: it seeks to move to the lowest level.
If you want to keep it in a reservoir; you'd best keep the spillways closed!
To live looking back into a fog; unknowing the past; is SOP.
