wow — that's just gut wrenching. How does a 51 yr old woman working as an adminsitrative ass’t positon in a collision repair shop afford a $1400/mos insurance premium and a $4K deductable? She effectively is paying only for catastrophic care.

Seems likely these numbers would fit the 'unaffordability' criterion for her and she would qualify for a subsidy on an exchange. I'm no expert on employer coverage as long gone from that marketplace.

At my job, rates went up around 5% but the dedictible went to $5000 for faily. No more co-pays either. Used to be $30. Now you pay 100% till you hit the $5000 dedictible.
