wow — that's just gut wrenching. How does a 51 yr old woman working as an adminsitrative ass’t positon in a collision repair shop afford a $1400/mos insurance premium and a $4K deductable?

It is gut-wrenching and I'm sure she can't.

Seems likely these numbers would fit the 'unaffordability' criterion for her and she would qualify for a subsidy on an exchange. I'm no expert on employer coverage as long gone from that marketplace.

If she is 53 and has worked there for several years she probably makes between $18-$25hr. She has one child and WOULD NOT qualify for a subsidy unless she has more dependents She is SOL.

Let’s not forget that those people were presented with their new Group rates, not Obamacare rates. Those deductibles would have been higher.
