Amanda Knox will have her heart in her mouth when a court in Italy decides whether to clear her of involvement in the murder of Meredith Kercher or uphold a guilty conviction she received five years ago.
The American student is awaiting the verdict in the latest round of a complex, seven-year legal process at her home in Seattle.....
Her lawyers in Florence said they are confident the American will be cleared of guilt in the murder of Miss Kercher, a Leeds University student who was studying in Perugia in Umbria when she was killed in 2007.
Carlo Dalla Vedova, one of the Italian lawyers representing the woman nicknamed Foxy Knoxy, said he felt "serene" about the verdict, which is expected to be handed down later today.
He said the only possible outcome from the jurys discussions must be "the innocence of Amanda Knox." Miss Knox, 26, has not attended any of the hearings in the re-trial, which started in September.
Mr Sollecito, on the other hand, has made frequent court appearances, always in a purple sweater, the color of the local Florentine football club. He was in court again today, accompanied by his father and other relatives.....
Lawyers for Miss Knox and her former lover maintain that the murder was committed by one person alone Rudy Guede, a local drifter and small-time drug dealer who is serving a 16-year jail term after being found guilty in a separate trial.
Guede, who fled Italy after the murder and was then extradited from Germany, has admitted that he was in Miss Kerchers room that night but denies that he killed her.
Prosecutors insist that the murder was committed by more than one killer and that Miss Knox and Mr Sollecito took part in the killing along with Guede.

I thought I read he broke in to other places, a lawyer’s office and even showed a weapon at one point.
I don’t think so. He had a laptop that had been stolen from a lawyer’s office, but he said he bought it on the street. The weapon was a knife found in his backpack when detained at the school. It was 11’ long and didn’t match either of the two knives used in the murder.
“There was no real motive, so Italy is insane and cocky to be pushing this again IMO.”
It’s become political, not a great environment for getting at the truth.
So, she walks. Again.
Knox's first mistake was to ever go over there in the first place as a rich American who was partying....they resented her and now look at the trouble she's in...
Ann Coulter just says things tongue in cheek.....period...and she likes to be provacative and does it very well...
That’s the name! Thanks.

The author here says so:
Guede also had a history of break-ins similar to that seen at the cottage. One week prior to the murder, Guede was caught breaking into a nursery school by the school’s owner, Maria Del Prato, when she arrived unexpectedly during off hours with two repairmen. Del Prato along with the repairmen kept Guede at the nursery and called the police.
When police searched Guede’s backpack they found a laptop and cell phone that had recently been stolen from a Perugian law office. The break-in at the law office was very similar to the break-in at the cottage as Guede entered through an elevated window broken with a rock in both occasions.
In the nursery school break-in, Guede was found in the possession of a large knife said to be stolen from the schools kitchen. He was also in possession of a womans gold watch which tied him to another break-in occurring four days earlier.
Guedes break-in at the nursery no doubt made him a suspect in a previous burglary of the nursery in which cash had been stolen.
