I wonder if any of you have ever flown first class. I did that one time right after my husband died and I was going to London to be with my son and I couldn’t stand the idea of someone jammed next to me in regular class, I wanted my own space at that time, so I flew first class to London.

When you arrive at the airport with a first class ticket, you don’t have to sit with the peons waiting to board. You go to a private room where there are refreshments and other first class people. There I was with the Houston people who had that kind of money. I talked with a pro baseball player as a Houston reporter, every week, was putting my comments about players in a Houston newspaper at that time.

Then, it is onto the plane before the common folk get on. There is a curtain between first class and the common folk so you never have to see them. There was my seat with gobs of room around it and it would lay almost flat like a bed. No one bothered me except the “hostess” to get me whatever I wanted. When we got there, I was rested instead of a basket case as is usual in the “common” area. Off we went first so we again didn’t have to be with the common folk.

There IS a difference when you have mega amounts of money. You ARE in a different class and your life is not like those who don’t have that large amount of money. I didn’t have mega amounts, I just had that one trip there like that and I came home a few weeks later, on a regular ticket.

I have been with the mega rich several times since then, but that was my first introduction to the kind of life they lead. AND IT IS SWELL.

In my work I used to fly every week. I always traveled in jeans and a comfortable shirt. One time I had to be in court so I was wearing a suit and carried a briefcase. Court ran late and I had to wear those clothes on my flight.

Now, no one had ever 'dissed' me before, but this time everyone treated me like SOMEBODY!! After that I always wore my suit and carried my briefcase. A guy needs some place to carry his lunch, after all.

You describe first class well. Not all are quite as you describe, and it doesn’t take piles of money.

~125,000 credit card points (you can buy these for $4000) is all it takes. And you can get 50,000 just for signing up.
