Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) confirmed on Wednesday that the House GOPs principles on immigration reform would endorse giving legal status to undocumented immigrants.
Ryan reiterated there would be no special pathway to citizenship for those immigrants, but said they would be able to apply for a green card after a long set of requirement were met. He did not, however, provide a timeline.
The former vice presidential candidate said the principles would also outline a probationary work status those illegal immigrants would be initially defined under until the border is secure and a host of other requirements are satisfied.
That is the kind of broad brush here that is the kind of process we envision that is not a special pathway to citizenship, and it is not automatically, in anyway, giving an undocumented immigrant citizenship, he said on MSNBC.

At least not until it hits the first liberal judge that can get his/her hands on it.
Ryan bring back jobs.
First.
Jobs.
As I read in another recent piece, the GOP will NEVER be able to jump high enough to appease the Leftist Amnesty pushers, who want no borders at all. Any attempt to do so is self-defeating.
Ryan’s toast
I would LOVE to see Ryan get his ass kicked in the coming Primay in Wisconsin. I have had it with these Squishy political hacks that are working with Obama to diminish every good thing that our country has to offer.
Agree...Lyin’ Ryan IS toast.
Obamas OFA Thanks Paul Ryan, John McCain for Helping Push Amnesty
The left has made a huge deal that Obamacare does not cover illegal aliens. Now, the left and the RINOs want to give some sort of legal status to 11 million. Any type of legal status will make them all eligible......
Similar to what I told you I heard, although that sentence doesn't quite makes sense :”...a probationary work status those illegal immigrants would be initially defined under until the border is secure....”
Could mean anything.

Okay, I have one question:
If you call this new state “legal status” by some gerrymandering of words and law, then does that mean once you implement this plan (that we don’t want, by the way), you’re actually gonna arrest and deport those NOT getting “legal status”?
Nah, I didn’t think so.
The Federal Border Laws that are now on the books are not being enforced by Federal Politicians.
Given how frequently our Federal Politicians lie to us, why should we expect that any new Federal Border Laws will be enforced?
Borders? We don’t need no steenkin’ borders!
Legalization = amnesty. Period.
Ryan did such a great job for the vets let him write the bill for immigration reform, with intervertent mistakes that will be corrected later, to be included at no additional cost.
Ryan is really a disappointment.
Priebus: It's All Been Decided
You have to wait a bit to get to the immigration part but it is breathtaking.
"We all agree it is time for something big on immigration," he says.
Who voted for this guy? Who the hell put him and Paul Ryan in charge of our country?
Please give this a look, and call your congressman if you haven't already.
We are being betrayed by these Republicans in a way far worse than Lord Obama's head-on assault.
My mistake, he is saying temporary amnesty until some unrelated conditions are met.
Just like the Senate bill.
He talked real fast when he said it, typical Paul Ryan,
