I live in Atlanta. All the weather forecasts were for a dusting of snow. The forecasts shifted starting yesterday morning. EVERYONE let people/kids go around 1-2 pm and it just became gridlock. I was fortunate and it only took me 3 hours to get home. A guy that works for me left at 1:00 and it took him two hours to get to his kids school. Then traffic became gridlocked and he had to abandon his car and walk the final four miles home and he got home at 10:45 last night. A coworkers wife left downtown at noon and left her car at 11:00 last night and went to a hotel that was taking people in.

We just are not prepared for this weather because it just doesn’t happen that often. The impact of this is that schools will be very gunshy and close based in a forecast. Northerners will laugh but it’s better than this disaster.

that’s because the hotels were getting cancellations all day from people who could fly or drive into Atlanta...

there was plenty of room and the best thing to do..

some of the gridlock would have been people getting out to go look at the snow...

we had people up and down our road all day after the snowplow had gone through..

they did slow down and creep along but it was still snowing and I wouldn’t have ventured out myself..

today the road is slushy due to the salt but if it freezes tonight it will be a sheet of ice

horrible forecasting. The Euro model had snow and freezing rain all across GA for several days before hand. It’s bad when a blogger in his basement in Richmond Va can give a better forecast than the weather channell or local news. Check out Wxrisk.com.
