What I find most amusing about these threads is all those posting about all the ammunition they are piling up. Posturing as big manly men who think they are going to be able to shoot themselves out of a SHTF event like they were John Wayne or Arnold Schwarzenegger in some action movie. Like they are going to have a pile of dead bodies piled outside their fortified homes and yeah, like that will teach them and keep everybody else away.

Well even if that comes to pass, when the ammo finally runs out, and it will, they will find themselves and their family torn limb by limb by a frenzied mob that will show no mercy. That is, if they don't have their home burned to the ground before then - with them in it.

Real men don't brag about the fortress they are building for themselves and all the ammo they are collecting. Real men prepare silently, keep a low profile, and will be most likely to ride a SHTF situation out uneventfully without even having to fire a shot - unless they are hunting game for food.

Besides the bragging, I’m thinking that no one family — or compound — can go up against the forces of the United States government. House destroying tanks? Flame throwers a la Waco? All you can do is make it a little harder.
