Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin today posted this Status Update on Facebook:
On this day in 1973 the Paris Peace Accords were signed. Although controversial, this treaty resulted in the release of our American POWs in Vietnam. Among them was John McCain. Our courageous POWs had endured unimaginable punishment at the hands of enemy captors in their sacrificial service to country. Our appreciation for them cannot be adequately articulated.
So many of these vets and POWs have continued to serve our country in private life. Theyre still fighting for America and showing their love of country in all they do. Some like Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas and Senator John McCain serve us in the halls of Congress today.
I consider Senator John McCain an American hero and a friend. He fights to remind our President that the federal governments first priority must be strong defense of our homeland, and, like Congressman Johnson, he fights against big-spending colleagues who dont prioritize for our militarys needs. Upon the Senators shoulders hes carried part of our message of opposition to todays fundamental transformation of America directly to the problem: President Obama and Harry Reids far left agenda.
I appreciate Senator McCain's steadfastness in demanding truth in the White Houses Benghazi cover-up. Because of his persistence we WILL get that truth, and then more eyes will be open to see how dangerous an Obama-led retreating America is in this volatile world.
It goes without saying we dont all agree on all political issues. For instance, I shall keep pushing to open ANWR, I oppose letting illegal aliens cut in line and receive American benefits via immigration reform, and I oppose any Congressional action that allows President Obama to incur more U.S. debt. During this time of dangerous lawlessness in the executive branch, those who agree on stopping the intended transformation of our country had better unite to fight. So at this time, it's perplexing to see Senator McCains good efforts to uncover the Obama agenda being ignored and perhaps even hindered now by those wanting to censure the Arizona Senator. Despite our differences on some other issues, there is no questioning Senator McCains dedication to national security in spite of the White Houses agenda.
We live in a time of diminishing virtues because of societal influence towards total self-centeredness. This is unfortunate and makes raising families, conducting business, and governing that much more challenging. I know how important the virtue of loyalty is because in politics its pretty much nonexistent. I stand on that most important virtue and answer those asking today: Yes, I am proud to have been asked to run with him in 2008, and he is my friend.
One more thing, if you've met his beautiful mother you know where he gets his tenacity. Roberta McCain is one tough Mama Grizzly.
- Sarah Palin
Spoken like a true neocon.
Almost like he picked her for a running mate because he needed Conservative votes so she has to “be nice” now even though she has to know he went from hero to hemorrhoid reaching across the aisle. What did that get us, nothing. Now it’s a toss up of who is the biggest RINO he or his good friend, Lindsey Graham. Hey, Sarah, you’re letting your “politician” mode show.
Talk about a self inflicted wound, own goal, unforced error....
McQueeg's only allegiance is to McQueeg.
Actually is this real? Never heard of USA for Palin. Checked conservatives4palin,not there. I didn’t see a tweet either.
That’s true, but she needs to realize that McInsane is the enemy. His alliance with Soros and murderous Muslim extremists only solidifies this fact. He would sell out the U.S. as quickly as he sold her out.
He picked her. He called her and said, “How would you like to make history?” And, as the second woman vice presidential nominee in history, she did just that.
And even Peggy Noonan admitted that she cleaned Biden’s clock in their debate.
Since then she has done well. So she’s loyal to McCain. Why shouldn’t she be?
I love Sarah, but I don’t get this.
I detect a touch of maternalism.
I trust Sarah’s intentions.
I agree with you there. Career politicians suck. How I do wish Congress members and federal judges, including SCOTUS, had been included in the 22nd Amendment.
McCain sold out in 1993 along with Kerry when they pushed the No One is Left Behind - All Have Been Accounted for angle. You know we had to make all things better so free trade could be opened with Vietnam, they have been punished enough.
Of all people, you would think he would have pushed and pushed for a COMPLETE accounting of all of his fellow POW/MIAs. Pox on both of those sellouts.
>> [Palin] needs to realize that McInsane is the enemy
That’s AZ’s responsibility.
Sorry Sarah, I think that is just a load of BS. Moreover, he is doing everything he can to work against our conservative goals. He only has contempt for us. No need to kiss his feet.
“Sarah just ratcheted herself down a few notches”
More than just a few with me. Until she’s willing to cut the string with McLame, I would not vote for her for dog catcher. In some perverted way, she continues to think that she “owes” McLame something, when in point of fact he owes her big time. Her “loyalty” defies all reason.
Possibly McCain has continued to help Sarah in some unknown form or fashion, given the way his family and his campaign used her and abused her. He may now regret putting her through the meat grinder.
Who knows? Her dad has had IRS breathing down his neck. Maybe John got something done on the dad’s behalf. Something private like that. It’s possible.
Otherwise, the regular bi-annual word kisses thrown to McCain are inexplicable.
However, I would love to have $5 for every time she uses the word “articulate”.
Did he say Cuckoo caucus ??
Just calling it like I see it.
This is how ‘reasonable, sane, statesmanlike, Beltway Establishment Republicans think about such an issue:
The Viet Commies are never under any circumstances own up to the deaths of the fifty or more POW’s they themselves stated that they held prisoner and then denied ever saying such a thing when the 1973 POW exchange took place. Even more they will never admit to having any unacknowledged (publicly unacknowledged that is , what Kissinger and RN knew is another matter), POWs that they held back as a guarantee for the big payoff RN verbally promised the Viets through Kissinger and then made it clear to the commies by never breathing a word of it that they had been taken. Presumably these Americans were just liquidated , if there were any, when the Viets realized they had been played by the K and RN team. So if the commies are never going to admit these things lets just let the dead bury the dead and move on to a more ‘productive’ relationship. There will be some good optics to be gotten and there will be opportunities for campaign donors to do deals with the Viets for something or other . Nothing else makes any sense to a Beltway type. Today's poll numbers and a 2 minute spot on CBS Evening News trumps anything else.
There is no sense of honor or even basic virtue and humanity Inside the Beltway it is all relative advantage and opportunities for favorable publicity and kickbacks from ‘donors’.
