Reality Is Crashing Down On GOP Leaders' Amnesty Plan
Investors Business Daily ^ | 1/27/14 | IBD Editorials

Immigration: Anti-amnesty Republicans prepare for an intra-party war, while wiser voices tell House Speaker John Boehner to drop immigration for 2014. Disunity going into this year's elections would be inexcusable.

Thanks to the ObamaCare debacle and the IRS, Benghazi and other scandals, Republicans will almost surely drub the Democrats in this year's midterm elections. They'll hold on to the House of Representatives and maybe even win control of the Senate.

So why spoil it all by fighting a bloody internecine battle on immigration?

"If there's one thing that could blow up GOP chances for a good 2014," warns the Weekly Standard's Bill Kristol, not known as an anti-amnesty firebrand, "it would be an explosive debate over immigration in the House."

Covering much the same ground we covered earlier last week, Kristol writes: "The only sure way to avoid such a debate is not to let anything onto the floor in the first place" because "there really is no need to act this year on immigration" anyway.

Otherwise, the result will be "a circular GOP firing squad, instead of a nicely lined-up one shooting together and in unison at ObamaCare and other horrors of big government liberalism."

Good. Let it die.

The problem with any immigration bill is that immediately the Clown will NOT ENFORCE any provision of the law with which he, his boss Valerie, and his punk Eric Holder disagree.

Also, one of the first moves will be to have federal, hand picked judges AUTOMATICALLY DECLARE ALL PERSONS AFFECTED BY THIS LAW as CITIZENS....

How or why ANYONE would trust this team, or Hitlery, to abide by the law, is mind boggling.

“The main obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States.” —George Soros

Senator John McCain, a bona fide war hero and decorated prisoner of war, would seem an unlikely candidate for cooperation with the likes of George Soros. But things aren’t always what they seem. Upon close examination, it turns out that Senator John McCain and his various efforts are funded by a number of George Soros’ shadowy organizations.

Senator McCain first rose to national prominence on the issue of campaign finance reform. Everybody knows that our political system is so corrupted by money from special interests that it no longer represents the interests of the people; so this is pretty much a “mom and apple-pie” issue. So Senator McCain undertook the task of “taking the money out of politics,” and even founded a non-profit institute, called The Reform Institute to move the project forward.

But where does the optimistically-named Reform Institute get its money? Well, the donors list includes George Soros’ Open Society Institute and The Tides Foundation among others. Try not to be shocked that Arianna Huffington, a long-time Soros organizer serves on its advisory board.

Just to show how loyal the esteemed Mr. Soros is to his loyal minions like John McCain, Ms. Huffington actually organized a series of Shadow Conventions for fundraising for McCain prior to his previous campaign for president, for which Soros contributed about a third of the funding.

In the wake of the passage of the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Bill, was corruption reduced? Of course not. All that happened was a bunch of so-called 527 groups funded by George Soros had free reign to do whatever they wanted while pro-constitution advocacy groups like the NRA were muzzled.(1) This “side-effect” of the bill was utterly predictable based upon who had funded it.

In 2002 McCain teamed up with the Orwellian-named “Americans for Gun Safety” a second amendment abolition group funded through Soros, and advocated all sorts of draconian controls on our constitutional rights. Now that he’s running for president as a “Republican” he has moderated his tone a bit on the issue, but you can rest assured that if he ever wins the presidency, he will march to the beat of George Soros’ drum on this issue. Practically all gun control groups in this country are ultimately funded by Soros through various channels.

Just to add insult to injury, in 2005 McCain misused the non-profit Institute even more than usual in a quid-pro-quo where he intervened on behalf of Cablevision in exchange for Cablevision donating $200,000 to the Institute. Funny how we never heard about that one, huh? (2)

And who served as the top staffer for the Reform Institute? That would be Rick Davis, who according to news articles was earning $110,000 a year at his post. Davis, however, has severed his ties with the group. But currently serving as a senior fellow at the Reform Institute is Juan Hernandez (Amnesty pusher), who also doubles as an adviser to the McCain campaign.

in 2002 the Open Society Institute gave $300,000 in grants to various groups that were defending McCain’s campaign finance law against legal challenges to it. An OSI spokesperson, Laura Silber, confirmed the report. So not only did McCain’s own organization and his campaign manager benefit from Soros’ cash, but McCain’s chief legislative issue was defended using money from the financier.

I occasionally like to point out that, in the 2008 campaign, Soros had at least three horses in that race.

Had either Obama, Hillary, or McCain won, he won.

When Soros plays cards, he deals the cards and he always knows who has what hand.

One House GOP aide, in an e-mail to Breitbart News, asked, "Do we really want to just give up the midterms like this?"

Sen. Jeff Sessions, R.-Ala., writing in Monday's USA Today, warned that such "large permanent increases in the flow of new workers from abroad" — 30 million over a decade, under the Senate-passed bill — "would be an extraordinary act of self-sabotage."

If the GOPers in office had any (any) idea of just how much WE CONSTITUENTS DO NOT WANT AMNESTY (and we do not want to be insulted by calling "amnesty" "reform")...

... they would (figuratively) fight for the microphone to be first in line to be on record as rock solid opposed to amnesty!)

atheist collectivist billionaire George Soros,..

Soros is widely known for funding hundreds of leftist, collectivist political action organizations, including the infamous Center for American Progress, which he created specifically as a think-tank for Hillary Clinton. He has also advised Barack Obama to ignore Constitutional limits on his power in order to “rule by executive order.”

The burning question that arises from the McCain-Soros summit is what on earth is McCain doing meeting with a man who has openly condemned the Tea Party and those who support Constitutional limits on government, and encouraged the United States to adopt “global governance” under the auspices of the United Nations?

********

For years, McCain has ignored the needs of his constituents focusing instead on securing cheap employees for his chamber of commerce donors through “immigration reform,” “nation building” in Syria and the Ukraine, and gun control – all of which are widely opposed by the majority of his base and the majority of Arizonans.

http://www.arizonadailyindependent.com/2014/01/26/mccain-meets-with-soros-as-constituents-count-pennies/

On January 23, McCain talked with Soros at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Soros, best known for his support of progressive organizations such as Moveon.org and anti-Israeli groups, is Chairman of the Soros Fund Management group. According to an AFP report, “Some 40 world leaders gather in the Swiss ski resort Davos to discuss and debate a wide range of issues including the causes of conflicts plaguing the Middle East, and how to reinvigorate the global economy.”

It is McCain’s progressive stance that has caused his fellow Party members to reject him. That, and his continued abuse of them through name calling and personal attacks.

“In a small office a few miles from Capitol Hill, a handful of top advisers to Senator John McCain run a quiet campaign. They promote his crusade against special interest money in politics. They send out news releases promoting his initiatives. And they raise money—hundreds of thousands of dollars, tapping some McCain backers for more than $50,000 each.”

The Reform Institute was launched in 2001 and grew from the movement to challenge campaign finance practices such as unlimited and undisclosed “soft money” donations.

On immigration the institute has advocated for comprehensive immigration reform – reasoning that balancing security and enforcement with meeting the workforce and economic needs of the country are the best way to fix the nation’s broken immigration system.

The Reform Institute is led by Executive Director Cecilia I. Martinez. Its Board of Directors is chaired by Paul Bateman of the Klein & Saks Group and includes Charles Kolb of the Committee for Economic Development, Lawrence Hebert of the Dominion Advisory Group and political consultant Pam Pryor.

The institute’s Advisory Committee consists of many academics, corporate executives and policy makers who help to guide the organization’s policy program. Notable members of the Advisory Committee include Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), former Senator David Boren (D-OK), former Congressman Charles Bass (R-NH), Timothy Farrell of Bank of America, Marie Royce of Alcatel-Lucent, Marc Spitzer of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Matthew Freedman of Global Impact, Inc., Don Murphy of Genn & Murphy, LLC, Robert Kelly of CenTauri Solutions, LLC, Ken Nahigian of Nahigian Strategies, LLC, Dan Ortiz of the University of Virginia School of Law, Thomas Mann of the Brookings Institution, and Norman Ornstein of the American Enterprise Institute.

Ms. Martinez is active in Latino advocacy groups and Republican politics. She proudly served on Senator John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign in the early primaries, at the Republican National Convention,

*******

Among the noble causes they support are immigration reform (amnesty), campaign finance reform (trashing freedom of speech) and something called “Democracy & Elections”, which is a euphemism for ending closed primaries. This goes back to that bitterness thing. Independents and Democrats should choose Republican candidates not Republicans. They also support “climate change” initiatives. Gee, you think this organization has any influence on John McCain? Guess who is also a member - Lindsey Graham.

Right from the start McCain’s people dominated the Reform Institute. McCain was honorary chair. His campaign manager in the 2000 election, Richard Davis, is the president of the Reform Institute. Research reveals that the initial crew over at the Reform Institute reads like a whose who of former McCain staffers. There is a direct link from the end of the 2000 campaign to McCain staffers finding sanctuary in the halls of the Reform Institute created in 2001.

If a rational Republican conservative really looked at the behavior of Republican Party leadership and senior congressional members they would realize that the Republican Party is not delivering on it stated platform and that it is time for a 3rd party. It is 1869 all over again.

“The last time Bill made any sense was when he told Juan McLame to pick Sarah Palin over his buddy Joe Lieberman as a running mate back in 2008. In six more years will he come out for the flat tax or the Tea Party?”

You’re right, Kristol is a slow learner.

Seems that the Republicans are constantly looking for a way to piss off the Conservative wing of the party but with this they are pissing off almost all of their party! That does not seem to affect the actions of the in-bread group now dominating the House though..

I will say that if they attempt anything to do with amnesty, they will be in the minority for another decade or two at the minimum...more likely, another party will form. They seem to constantly look for ways to denigrate themselves and they continue to succeed!

Can we please start another party!!
