When a smartphone user opens Angry Birds, the popular game application, and starts slinging birds at chortling green pigs, spy agencies have plotted how to lurk in the background to snatch data revealing the players location, age, sex and other personal information, according to secret British intelligence documents.
In their globe-spanning surveillance for terrorism suspects and other targets, the National Security Agency and its British counterpart have been trying to exploit a basic byproduct of modern telecommunications: With each new generation of mobile phone technology, ever greater amounts of personal data pour onto networks where spies can pick it up.
According to dozens of previously undisclosed classified documents, among the most valuable of those unintended intelligence tools are so-called leaky apps that spew everything from users smartphone identification codes to where they have been that day.

Have you cyber hugged your NSA person today?
Given I fill out complete B.S. on every profile, they are probably confused.

Welcome to the Obama Nation.
What kind of a world do we live in where a person can’t propel attitudinally challenged, feathered, winged, two-legged, warm-blooded, egg-laying vertebrates towards jocular, verdantly-tinted, non-ruminant, even-toed ungulates without having to worry about being spied on by the government?
A smart one does - especially in New York. Jaywalking’ll get you a beat down in that city.
So should they test the technology by spying on you?
My question is why? Why must they feel that they must have that level of invasion of our privacy?
There is no legitimate need for this kind of intrusion into our lives. I think it’s about time we do the same to the Government. Start data mining for everything on every Government employee including their home addresses and other personal information.
If they don’t like it, they can lead by example and stop doing it to us.
To think that our healthcare records will be kept private is a pathetic joke.
These people will rue the day. Soon.
We need to see some major accountability from those who took an oath to defend the Constitution. Instead of them shining the spotlight on the people, it needs to be shined on them.
Too many in Congress are allowing an escalation of treasonous, seditious, anti-Constitutional activities. They need held accountable regardless of their Party and politics. The Presidency needs reigned in now and it needed reigned in before IMO. These elected officials need to represent the Constitution first, and instead they are failing us.
Words from Bob Gates about Congress: Uncivil, incompetent in fulfilling basic constitutional responsibilities (such as timely appropriations), micro-managerial, parochial, hypocritical, egotistical, thin-skinned, often putting self (and reelection) before country this was my view of the majority of the United States Congress.
Why would they? It would be a waste of time. There’s no evidence they are, anyway. My question is whether the NSA should be stripped of its ability to conduct cyber operations. Seems that’s what most people here want.
Anything can be abused. Tanks and aircraft CAN be used to kill Americans here at home. That doesn’t mean we deny tanks and aircraft to our military.
Time to get a windows phone. Using the logic of apple and Linux fanboys since it has 0 exploits.

Just like Google.
Don’t need no stinkin cell phone. Don’t know what an app is, always knew being ignorant would come in handy some day. Trained all my life for these times.
This is necessary. Everyone knows that when they aren't shouting in the streets or slitting throats, muslim terrorists spend their time playing Angry Birds.
Angry Birds? Why not "Behead the Infidel". Then they could track someone likely to be a threat instead of just trawl the aether.
